Classified information

Classified information is material that a government body claims is sensitive information that requires protection of confidentiality, integrity, or availability. Access is restricted by law or regulation to particular groups of people, and mishandling can incur criminal penalties and loss of respect. A formal security clearance is often required to handle classified documents or access classified data. The clearance process usually requires a satisfactory background investigation. Documents and other information assets are typically marked with one of several (hierarchical) levels of sensitivity—e.g. restricted, confidential, secret and top secret. The choice of level is often based on an impact assessment; governments often have their own set of rules which include the levels, rules on determining the level for an information asset, and rules on how to protect information classified at each level. This often includes security clearances for personnel handling the information. Although "classified information" refers to the formal categorization and marking of material by level of sensitivity, it has also developed a sense synonymous with "censored" in US English. A distinction is often made between formal security classification and privacy markings such as "commercial in confidence". Classifications can be used with additional keywords that give more detailed instructions on how data should be used or protected.

Acclaim Games

Acclaim Games, based in Beverly Hills, California, was a private online video game company that offered free Massively multiplayer online role-playing games on its website upon registration. The company was founded in 2006 and was the successor to Acclaim Entertainment in terms of brand name. After Acclaim Entertainment filed for bankruptcy, former Activision CEO Howard Marks purchased the "Acclaim" name in September 2004 for a reported $100,000. He, along with Neil Malhotra, created a new company, naming it "Acclaim Games" and taking a totally different direction from the previous company.

While Acclaim Games primarily focused on bringing to North America and Europe online games originally from Asia, it also gave the opportunity to its registered members to submit video games they'd created. Acclaim Games relied on In-game advertising and items sales for revenues, while releasing the games themselves for free.

The company released fourteen games: The Chronicles of Spellborn, Kogamu, BOTS!! (which was its launching title), 9Dragons, 2Moons, Ponystars, Dance Online, My Diva Doll, Tribal Nations and Prize Potato. As of December 2007, the company had 15 million registered accounts and 500,000 active players across all games.

Top Secret (Griffin novel)

Top Secret is to be the first novel in the Clandestine Operations series by W.E.B. Griffin and William E. Butterworth IV.

Plot

This novel centers around a new officer, James Cronley, who at the very end of World War II is recruited for a new intelligence operation and is sent to Germany. Cronley suffers a personal tragedy just before being sent to his new post. It is hoped Cronley can become a great asset to the new organization, which is to become the Central Intelligence Agency. Cronley is put in charge of an operation that includes former German officers and he quickly finds himself in charge of a captured Soviet spy. Many of the characters from Argentina in the Honor Bound series make appearances throughout the novel.

Cronley gets himself into some situations that will seemingly end his career, but with some guidance from those who are more experienced, he seems to have a chance to redeem himself. He has to convince the Soviet spy to turn against his Soviet masters and it is apparent other spies for the Soviets are working right under Cronley's nose to defeat him. This book does not reveal whether Cronley will succeed or fail completely. The next book in the series picks up the story.

Top Secret (aircraft)

Top Secret was the name of a Boeing B-29 Superfortress (B-29-36-MO 44-27302, "victor number' 72) modified to carry the atomic bomb in World War II. It served with the Army Air Forces and United States Air Force from 1945 until 1954.

Airplane history

The plane was assigned to the 393d Bomb Squadron of the 509th Composite Group. It was one of fifteen Silverplate B-29s used by the 509th. Top Secret was built at the Glenn L. Martin Company aircraft plant at Omaha, Nebraska, as a Block 35 aircraft. It was one of 10 modified as a Silverplate and designated with Block number 36. The plane was delivered to the Army Air Forces on 2 April 1945. The 509th assigned it to crew B-8 (1st Lt. Charles F. McKnight, aircraft commander) and it was flown to Wendover Army Air Field, Utah. It left Wendover on 5 June 1945, for North Field, Tinian and arrived 11 June.

It was originally assigned the "victor (unit-assigned identification) number" 2 but on 1 August was given the large 'Square A' tail markings of the 497th Bombardment Group as a security measure and had its "victor number" changed to 72 to avoid misidentification with actual 497th aircraft. It was named Top Secret and its nose art was applied after the atomic bomb missions.

Top Secret (magazine)

Top Secret was the first Polish video game magazine, published from 1990 to 1996 by the Bajtek publishing house in Poland. The magazine quickly gained a cult following, and is still fondly remembered as one of the most memorable magazines in Poland.

History

The first issue appeared in late 1990, the editor-in-chief being Marcin "Martinez" Przasnyski. The magazine had been very different from e.g. American video game magazines, due to the situation in Poland at the time. Software piracy was blooming due to the bad economic situation and the lack of appropriate law regulations. Buying a computer game legally was almost impossible, so people were forced to buy them from pirates. Those games rarely contained a manual, and the knowledge of English was scarce among Polish people. Therefore, in its earliest years, Top Secret contained hardly any reviews. Instead, it published game guides, walkthroughs, manuals, maps and sometimes just general descriptions of the game. It was therefore very helpful for an aspiring gamer. Top Secret was the first magazine of its kind in Poland, and readers - unfamiliar with such publications - often apparently mistook it for a mail-order catalogue and kept sending requests for games, computers or joysticks to the magazine, despite the editing team's explanations.
