Tonica gypsopis

Tonica gypsopis is a moth in the Oecophoridae family. It was described by Meyrick in 1928. It is found on the Andamans.

The wingspan is about 27 mm. The forewings are white, mostly suffused pale grey except towards the base, the costa and termen. The veins towards the costa are posteriorly partly marked with very fine black lines and there is a short dark grey streak from the base of the costa, and a costal mark at one-sixth, as well as a dash of dark grey irroration just beneath the costa in the middle. The plical and second discal stigmata are marked by white tufts mixed with dark grey. There is an angulated subterminal line formed of cloudy grey spots, as well as three or four suffused dark grey spots on the costa posteriorly, and four smaller on the termen. The hindwings are rather dark grey.

Tonica is a village in LaSalle County, Illinois, United States. The population was 685 at the 2000 census. It is part of the OttawaStreator Micropolitan Statistical Area.

Tonica is mainly farmland, with a few businesses. It has its own grade school, Tonica Grade School (K-8), with approximately 194 students enrolled.

Geography

Tonica is located at 41°12′57″N 89°4′5″W / 41.21583°N 89.06806°W / 41.21583; -89.06806 (41.215902, -89.067981).

According to the 2010 census, Tonica has a total area of 1.36 square miles (3.52 km2), all land.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there were 685 people, 292 households, and 193 families residing in the village. The population density was 505.5 people per square mile (194.5/km²). There were 306 housing units at an average density of 225.8 per square mile (86.9/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.39% White, 0.29% Native American, 0.15% Asian, 0.44% Pacific Islander, and 0.73% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.09% of the population.
