Tom Taylor

Tom Taylor (19 October 1817 – 12 July 1880) was an English dramatist, critic, biographer, public servant, and editor of Punch magazine. He wrote about 100 plays during his career, including Our American Cousin (1858), famous as the play which was being performed in the presence of American President Abraham Lincoln when he was assassinated in 1865.

Biography

Taylor was born into a wealthy family at Bishopwearmouth, present day Sunderland, in north-east England. His father owned a brewery. After attending school at the Grange in Sunderland, and studying for two sessions at the University of Glasgow, he became a student of Cambridge University's Trinity College in 1837. In 1840 he received a B.A. with honors in both classics and mathematics, and a master's degree in 1843.

Taylor began his working life as a journalist. Soon after moving to London, he wrote for the Morning Chronicle and the Daily News. He was on the staff of Punch magazine until 1874, when he succeeded Charles William Shirley Brooks as editor. He was also was an art critic for The Times and The Graphic.

Tom Taylor (cricketer, born 1994)

Thomas Alex Ian Taylor (born 21 December 1994) is an English cricketer, who plays for Derbyshire. He is a right-arm medium-fast bowler who also bats right-handed. He made his debut on 8 June 2014 in the 2014 County Championship against Leicestershire.

Tom Taylor (Glamorgan cricketer)

Tom Taylor (born Henry Thomas Taylor; July 7, 1911 — July 20, 1970) was a Welsh cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman who played first-class cricket for Glamorgan. He was born in Cardiff and died in Pontypridd.

Having played club cricket with St. Fagans during the 1930s, Taylor played three first-class matches for Glamorgan between 1932 and 1934, though he had little success with the bat - sixteen of his seventeen first-class runs coming in a single innings. Between 1935 and 1950 Taylor played in at least six Minor Counties Championship matches for Glamorgan's Second XI - and during this decade he also took charge of four matches as umpire.

Thomas Sylvester "Tom" Taylor (December 4, 1880 – August 15, 1945) was a Canadian amateur football (soccer) player who competed in the 1904 Summer Olympics.

He was born in Ontario. In 1904 he was a member of the Galt F.C. team, which won the gold medal in the football tournament. He played all two matches as a forward and scored three goals.

Tom Taylor (born 29 November 1978) is an award-winning and #1 New York Times bestselling comic book author, playwright and screenwriter. He is well known for his work on the DC Comics series Injustice: Gods Among Us and Earth-Two, Marvel's Superior Iron Man and his many Star Wars works. He is the co-creator, head writer and Executive Producer of the CG animated series The Deep based on his graphic novel series of the same name.

Tom Taylor was born in Melbourne, Australia.

Taylor has been announced as the All-New Wolverine writer, and has also recently written Superior Iron Man, the bestselling Injustice: Gods Among Us and Earth 2 series for DC Comics.

Taylor is the creator, with James Brouwer, of the all-ages adventure graphic novels The Deep: Here Be Dragons and its sequel The Vanishing Island published by Gestalt Publishing. The Deep was optioned by Technicolor and is set to become a 26 episode CG animated series, with Taylor serving as creator/head writer.

In 2012, The Deep: Here Be Dragons won the Aurealis Award for Best illustrated book/graphic novel, Australia's premier speculative fiction literary award. The sequel, The Vanishing Island, won the award again in 2014.
