Fur people

The Fur (Fur: fòòrà, Arabic: فور Fūr) are an ethnic group from western Sudan, principally inhabiting the region of Darfur where they are the largest tribe.

They are a Western Sudanese people who practice sedentary herding and agriculture, mainly the cultivation of millet. Their society is a traditional one governed by village elders. They speak Fur, a Nilo-Saharan language, and are Muslims, having adopted the religion following the region's conquest by the Kanem-Bornu Empire during the Middle Ages. Some of them have come to speak Arabic in recent years.

The name of Darfur comes from the name of this tribe and means "the home of the Fur". Most of the well known governors of Darfur such as Deriage and Tegani Seisei are members of the Fur. The Fur established the historical Sultanate of Darfur which governed Darfur until 1916 (see History of Darfur).

Abdul Wahid al Nur, a leader among the Fur, established the Sudan Liberation Movement and Army. Another leader of the tribe, as of 2007, is Ahmed Abdelshafi (Toba).

Rúbaň

Rúbaň (Hungarian: Für) is a village and municipality in the Nové Zámky District in the Nitra Region of south-west Slovakia.

History

In historical records the village was first mentioned in 1268.

Geography

The municipality lies at an altitude of 134 metres and covers an area of 16.109 km². It has a population of about 1000 people.

Ethnicity

The population is about 86% Hungarian and 14% Slovak.

A-fu

Teng Fu-ju (traditional Chinese: 鄧福如; simplified Chinese: 邓福如; pinyin: Dèng Fúrú; born 20 June 1987), known by her stage name A-fu (Chinese: 阿福; pinyin: Ā fú), is a Taiwanese singer and songwriter. Prior to her solo debut in the music scene, A-fu was a member of Lazy Bomb, an indie band, and a demo singer. She is known for her cover version of "Nothin' on You" by B.o.B and Bruno Mars, which drew wide attention on YouTube in 2010. In May 2011, A-fu released her debut studio album, That's How It Is, for which she received a nomination for Best New Artist at the 23rd Golden Melody Awards.

Early life

Born in Hsinchu City on 20 June 1987, A-fu grew up in the countryside in Xiangshan District and in Changhua County. Both her parents run a rental car business together, and as they were often busy with work when she was young, A-fu and her elder sister, Hsing Ju, spent much of their childhood under the care of their aunt. Despite this, A-fu still maintains a close relationship with her mother and grew up influenced by her mother's love for music, in particular songs by Teresa Teng. At a young age, A-fu entered in singing and recitation competitions. Also, at her mother's request, she learned the standard Mandarin enunciation by watching the Taiwanese educational programme The Daily Characters (每日一字) hosted by news presenter Lee Yen-chiu, which perhaps, has shaped her distinctive vocals, in a way.

A.F. (band)

A.F. is a punk rock band located in the canton Valais / Switzerland.

Biography

The band was founded in 1992 and was first called Allpot Futsch. There have been no changes to the lineup. In the beginning, A.F. was only known in the local region of Naters and the Oberwallis (German for: upper part of the canton Valais). The first edition (500 copies) of their debut album Now you have the salad was soon sold out and a second release had to be pressed.

Four years later on February 3, 2001, A.F. published their second studio album named till the end. In July 2003, the third studio album parcel from hibernation was finished. A.F. - Songs on Snowboarmovies with several 10,000 copies, as well as parts on different national and international samplers increased the band's publicity.

The band made the biggest step forward in 2005. A.F. had the exceptional chance (for a European Band) to have their new album not alone be produced, recorded and mixed by Ryan Greene (producer of NOFX, Lagwagon, No Use for a Name ...) at the "Crush Recording" studio in Phoenix, Arizona. Brad Vance at the Red Mastering Studio in Hollywood took care about the sound mastering.
