Tim Daly

James Timothy "Tim" Daly (born March 1, 1956) is an American actor, director, and producer. He is best known for his role as Joe Hackett on the NBC sitcom Wings and his voice role as Clark Kent/Superman in Superman: The Animated Series, as well as his recurring role as the drug-addicted screenwriter J.T. Dolan on The Sopranos (for which he was nominated for an Emmy Award). He starred as Pete Wilder on Private Practice from 2007 to 2012. Daly is currently portraying Henry McCord, husband of the titular secretary, on the CBS drama Madam Secretary.

Early life

Daly was born in New York City, the only son and youngest of four children of actors James and Mary Hope (née Newell) Daly. He is the younger brother of actress Tyne Daly. He has two other sisters, Mary Glynn (wife of Mark Snow) and Pegeen Michael. Daly attended The Putney School, where he started to study acting.

Daly began his professional career while a student at Vermont's Bennington College, where he studied theatre and literature, in which he now holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, and acted in summer stock. He graduated from college in 1979, and returned to New York to continue studying acting and singing.

Timothy Daly (playwright)

Timothy Daly is one of Australia's most internationally produced playwrights, with many national and international productions to his credit. Actors such as Academy Award winners Cate Blanchett and Geoffrey Rush have appeared in Timothy's plays. His 2008 play Derrida in Love, was written for 2011 & 2013 Academy Award Nominee Jacki Weaver, which she performed in a sold out season at the Ensemble Theatre, Sydney. Timothy's play Kafka Dances has won a dozen national and international awards since its premiere and is one of the most internationally performed Australian plays. His play Richard III ( or almost) premiered at the 2011 Festival d'Avignon and followed with a Paris season in October–November, 2012. Timothy's play The Man in the Attic was awarded the Patrick White Playwrights' Award for best new play. The play has been staged in Paris; at the 2013 Festival d'Avignon. In 2013, Timothy Daly was the recipient of a Paris Studio Residency Award from the Australian Council for the Arts. He is represented by Victoria Wisdom and her Los Angeles based production and management company A Little Wisdom Productions.
