Tic-tac-toe

Tic-tac-toe (also known as Noughts and crosses or Xs and Os) is a paper-and-pencil game for two players, X and O, who take turns marking the spaces in a 3×3 grid. The player who succeeds in placing three of their marks in a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal row wins the game.

Players soon discover that best play from both parties leads to a draw. Hence, Tic-tac-toe is most often played by young children.

Because of the simplicity of Tic-tac-toe, it is often used as a pedagogical tool for teaching the concepts of good sportsmanship and the branch of artificial intelligence that deals with the searching of game trees. It is straightforward to write a computer program to play Tic-tac-toe perfectly, to enumerate the 765 essentially different positions (the state space complexity), or the 26,830 possible games up to rotations and reflections (the game tree complexity) on this space.

The game can be generalized to an m,n,k-game in which two players alternate placing stones of their own color on an m×n board, with the goal of getting k of their own color in a row. Tic-tac-toe is the (3,3,3)-game.

Tic Tac Toe (album)

Tic Tac Toe is the self-titled album and debut studio album by German pop rap band Tic Tac Toe, released on April 15, 1996. It sold over 1.12 million copies and received gold and platinum status in Germany.

The lyrics are written by the band's manager Claudia Wohlfromm, her then-husband Thorsten Börger, who also produced the album in his recording studio Flash&Fly in Iserlohn, and the band itself.

Tic Tac Toe never reached the top charts, but stayed a long time in the hit parade. In Germany reached the album rank 3 during 76 weeks. In Austria reached the album rank 3 during 39. In Switzerland Tic Tac Toe it ranked #4 and stayed there 65 weeks in the music charts.

Tic Tac Toe (band)

Tic Tac Toe was an all-female German group. Formed in 1995 in Ruhr, they released their self-titled debut album in 1996. Their second album, Klappe die 2te, was released the following year to even a greater success. After a successful first few years, the group split due to personal difficulties in 2000, having sold over 3 million records. Tic Tac Toe attempted a return to the spotlight by releasing a hit single "Spiegel" in 2005. After disappointing sales of their 2006 Comeback album, the Tic Tac Toe project was abandoned.

History

1995-1996: Formation and early years

The band was established in 1995 by three young women from the industrial Ruhr valley area: Lee (Liane Wiegelmann), Ricky (Ricarda Wältken) and Jazzy (Marlene Tackenberg). According to their record company, the three girls met at a hip hop festival. However, as many details of their biographies later turned out to be manipulated, it should be taken with a grain of salt - especially since the company never disclosed where and when said festival had taken place.
