Thomas Woods

Thomas Ernest "Tom" Woods, Jr. (born August 1, 1972) is an American historian, political analyst, and author. Woods is a New York Times best-selling author and has published twelve books. He has written extensively on the subjects of American history, contemporary politics, and economics. Woods identifies as a libertarian and a proponent of the Austrian school of economics. He operates LibertyClassroom.com, a pay-for-access educational website that offers audio and video content on topics in history, economics, and philosophy.

Education and affiliations

Woods holds a B.A. from Harvard University and a Ph.D. from Columbia University, both in History. He is a senior fellow of the Ludwig von Mises Institute in Auburn, Alabama and a member of the editorial board for the Institute's Libertarian Papers. Woods is also an associate scholar of the Abbeville Institute, in McClellanville, South Carolina. The Abbeville Institute promotes the cultural inheritance of the American Southern tradition as "a valuable intellectual and spiritual resource for exposing and correcting the errors of American modernity," as opposed to "colleges and universities [which] have come to be dominated by the ideologies of multiculturalism and political correctness.

Thomas Woods (1923 – 17 April 1961) was an Irish writer and diplomat.

Woods was born in Galway. He was a writer, and Ireland's Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe. He died in Strasbourg. He wrote a column for the books section of The Irish Times under the pseudonym "Thersites" and for other publications as "Thomas Hogan".

Thomas Woods (cricketer)

Thomas Woods (dates unknown) was an English cricketer who played for Surrey in the 1750s and 1760s before first-class statistics were recorded.

Little is known of Thomas Woods and the only definite reference to him is when he played as a given man for Chertsey against Dartford in 1761. Prior to this, there is a reference to a player called Woods of Surrey, described as a "long stop", who played in three matches for All-England against Dartford in 1759.

It is possible that he has been confused in Scores and Biographies with John Wood, another Surrey player who was mainly active in the 1770s, given that the book always refers to John Wood as "Thomas Wood". But John Wood was born in 1744 and would only have been a teenager in 1759 and 1761.Scores and Biographies describes John Wood as "Thomas Wood, a miller, living in Pirbright, Surrey".
