This Man is News is a 1938 British comedy mystery film directed by David MacDonald and starring Barry K. Barnes, Valerie Hobson, Alastair Sim and Edward Lexy. A journalist solves a crime of which he himself is suspected. A "quota quickie", it was made for a mere £6,000, but "was among the highest grossing films of 1938".
It was loosely modelled on the American Thin Man series of films. A sequel, This Man in Paris, was made in 1939.
TV Guide gave the film three out of five stars and wrote, "Though Barnes and Hobson may not quite be another William Powell and Myrna Loy, they handle the assignment with humor and great style. The film is directed with energy and the dialogue helps carry the brisk pace along. This is the first screenwriting credit for Basil Dearden, who would go on to do many stories, both serious and topical, in association with noted British producer and art director Michael Relph."
Bryan Michael Bertino (born October 17, 1977) is an American film director, producer and screenwriter, best known as the writer/director of The Strangers.
Bertino was born in Crowley, Texas. He studied cinematography at the University of Texas at Austin. He then moved to Los Angeles, where he worked as a gaffer, and wrote screenplays in his spare time.
Bertino submitted The Strangers for a Nicholl Fellowship with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which reached the quarterfinals. However, he was able to get a meeting with Vertigo Entertainment. Bertino quit his job days before the script was sold to Universal Studios.
Mark Romanek wanted to direct The Strangers but demanded a $40 million budget. After speaking with Andrew Rona at Rogue Pictures, Bertino was asked to direct The Strangers despite a lack of directorial experience.
"This Man" is a song by Jeremy Camp. The song is off his Restored album, which was released in 2004.
The single has reached number one on the Billboard Hot Christian Songs chart. It was the twentieth most played song on Christian CHR radio in 2006 and "Breathe", a song from the same album, was the tenth most played song on CHR radio that year. "This Man" has aired on YouTube with video clips from the film The Passion of the Christ.
Live versions by Camp appear on his 2005 album, Live Unplugged, and his 2009 album, Jeremy Camp Live. "This Man" is also available on the compilation album WOW Hits 2007.
