This Is Me (Dream song)

"This Is Me" is a song by American girl group Dream. It was released on May 1, 2001 as the second single off their debut album It Was All a Dream (2001). It was written in 2000 by Steve Kipner, David Frank and Pamela Sheyne, the same team that wrote their debut single "He Loves U Not".

The song was a minor hit on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking within the top 40 at number 39, making this their second and final song to appear on that chart. It also peaked at numbers 13, 17 and 80 on the Mainstream Top 40, Top 40 Tracks and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts respectively. An accompanying music video for the song, directed by Marcus Raboy, premiered on MTV's Total Request Live and features the group in different settings: all four girls in different colored rooms, a rave and a dance club. They first performed the song live on Live with Regis and Kelly and would make later appearances at the 2001 Walt Disney World Summer Jam Concert, Teen Choice Presents: Teenapalooza and The Early Show.

This Is Me is an album by country music star Randy Travis, and was released on April 26, 1994 by Warner Bros.. Producer Kyle Lehning, Travis, and A&R Martha Sharp considered more than 1,000 songs before settling on the final ten. The tracks "Before You Kill Us All", "Whisper My Name", "This Is Me", and "The Box" were all released as singles, peaking at #2, #1, #5, and #8, respectively, on the Billboard country music charts. "Small Y'all" was later recorded by George Jones on his 1998 album It Don't Get Any Better Than This.

This Is Me is the second studio album from American contemporary Gospel singer Kierra "Kiki" Sheard. It was released June 27, 2006 by EMI Gospel. A special edition of This Is Me was simultaneously released with six bonus tracks as well as an exclusive photo booklet.

Criticism

This Is Me was met with mixed reaction from Sheard's core gospel fanbase. Where traditional gospel enthusiasts had a few tracks of that style to appease them on Kiki's debut project, her second album adopted an even more slick, contemporary sound. The only place the more trademark traditional "churchy" vocals appear are in the vamp of "No, Never". Nonetheless, scores of younger fans have been introduced to both traditional and contemporary gospel influences through Kiki Sheard's work. The artist herself stated that her goal with this album was to take the gospel message to a younger generation through songs that have a "beat they can associate with."

Overclocking

Overclocking is the configuration of a computer hardware component to operate at a faster rate than was certified by the original manufacturer, generally specified as a given clock frequency in Megahertz (MHz) or Gigahertz (GHz). Commonly the operating voltage of the overclocked device is also increased, which can help with maintaining the component's operational stability at the accelerated speeds. Oregon and California Railroad

The Oregon and California Railroad was formed from the Oregon Central Railroad when it was the first to operate a 20-mile (32 km) stretch south of Portland in 1869. This qualified the Railroad for land grants in California, whereupon the name of the railroad soon changed to Oregon & California Rail Road Company. In 1887, the line was completed over Siskiyou Summit, and the Southern Pacific Railroad assumed control of the railroad, although it was not officially sold to Southern Pacific until January 3, 1927.

Land grants and growth

As part of the U.S. government's desire to foster settlement and economic development in the western states, in July 1866, Congress passed the Oregon and California Railroad Act, which made 3,700,000 acres (1,500,000 ha) of land available for a company that built a railroad from Portland, Oregon to San Francisco, distributed by the state of Oregon in 12,800-acre (5,200 ha) land grants for each mile of track completed. Two companies, both of which named themselves the Oregon Central Railroad, began a competition to build the railroad, one on the west side of the Willamette River and one on the east side. The two lines would eventually merge and reorganize as the Oregon and California Railroad.
