Tirupati

Tirupati is a city in Chittoor district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is a municipal corporation and the headquarters of Tirupati (urban) mandal, and of the Tirupati revenue division.As of 2011 census, it had a population of 374,260, making it the ninth most populous city in Andhra Pradesh. It is the seventh most urban agglomerated city in the state, with a population of 459,985. Tirupati is considered one of the holiest Hindu pilgrimage sites because of Tirumala Venkateswara Temple, besides other historical temples, and is referred to as the "Spiritual Capital of Andhra Pradesh".

Tirupati is also home to many educational institutions and universities. For the year 2012-13, India's Ministry of Tourism named Tirupati as the "Best Heritage City".

Tirupati has been selected as one of the hundred Indian cities to be developed as a smart city under Smart Cities Mission by Government of India.

Etymology

The word Tirupati is said to have been derived been from Tripathi. Tri is a Sanskrit word referring to Lord of Tripathy of the sacred hill. In Tamil translation, Tiru means Sacred and also referred to as Goddess Lakshmi and Pathi means Husband. So, it is known as the Sacred abode of Vishnu. Malayalam manuscripts of 1802 referred as Tripati and Teeropaty. Tirupati is sometimes referred to as Lower Tirupati, and nearby Tirumala as Upper Tirupati.

Thirupathi is a 2006 Kannada action-crime-drama film directed by Shivamani featuring Sudeep and Pooja Kanwal in the lead roles. The film features background score and soundtrack composed by Rajesh Ramanath and lyrics by Kaviraj, Shivamani and Krishna. The film released on 30 June 2007

Thirupathi (2006 Tamil film)

Thirupathi is a 2006 Tamil action film written and directed by Perarasu and produced by AVM Productions. The film features Ajith Kumar and Sadha in the lead roles, with Riyaz Khan and Arun Pandian appearing in other pivotal roles.

Plot

Thirupathi is a straight forward young man who leads a happy life with his parents and younger sister. He happens to meet Priya and both fall for each other. Thirupathi’s sister is pregnant and at the time of delivery, he takes her to a hospital. The doctor there expects bribe but when it is not forthcoming, neglects his duty because of which Thirupathi’s sister dies. Thirupathi comes to know that this is not the first instance in the hospital and the doctor is none other than Soori’s brother. When he goes out to get him, Soori and his father do all that they can to protect him from Thirupathi. How Thirupathi gets his revenge on the people responsible for his sister's death forms the rest of the movie.
