The Wash

The Wash is the square-mouthed bay and estuary on the northwest margin of East Anglia on the east coast of England, where Norfolk meets Lincolnshire. It is among the largest estuaries in the United Kingdom and is fed by the Rivers Witham, Welland, Nene and Great Ouse.

Geography

The Wash is the large indentation in the coastline of Eastern England that separates the curved coast of East Anglia from Lincolnshire. It is a large bay with three roughly straight sides meeting at right angles, each about 15 miles (25 km) in length. The eastern coast of the Wash is entirely within Norfolk, and extends from a point a little north of Hunstanton in the north to the mouth of the River Great Ouse at King's Lynn in the south. The opposing coast, which is roughly parallel to the east coast, runs from Gibraltar Point to the mouth of the River Welland, all within Lincolnshire. The southern coast runs roughly northwest-southeast, connects these two river mouths and is punctuated by the mouth of a third river, the River Nene.

The Wash (2001 film)

The Wash is a 2001 hip hop-styled comedy film written and directed by DJ Pooh and starring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and DJ Pooh, with appearances by Eminem, Ludacris and Xzibit. The film was released on November 16, 2001.

Plot

Sean (Dre) and Dee Loc (Dogg) are roommates who have not yet paid their rent. To make matters worse, Sean has just lost his job at Foot Locker due to Dee Loc's interference, so Dee Loc suggests that his roommate stop by the same car wash where he works. Sean is immediately hired as assistant manager with Chris (Eminem) having been fired the day before. At the same time, their landlord has given them a three-day eviction warning. Although Dee Loc has the money, through dealing drugs on the side, he refuses to pay, insisting that Sean needs to come up with his half, so Sean does his best to impress Mr. Washington (Wallace), the owner of the car wash, so he can hold his job long enough to come up with his half of the rent.

At first, things go fine, but then Dee Loc is caught on tape stealing and Mr. Washington tells Sean he must decide what to do, including firing his roommate if that is the best 'executive decision' to make. Sean tries to appeal to Dee Loc to act more responsibly but this creates a tremendous strain in their relationship.

The Wash (song)

"The Wash" is a collaborative single by American rappers Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, recorded for and released as the second and final single from The Wash O.S.T.. The song was produced by Dr. Dre and DJ Pooh. The song makes many references towards the lyrics in one of Dr. Dre's biggest hits, "Nuthin' but a "G" Thang". Boston Red Sox second basemen Dustin Pedroia uses the beginning of the song as his batting music. In some territories, the song was a packaged as a double A-side with Bad Intentions, the lead single from The Wash.

    The Wash (1985 film)

The Wash is a 1985 Japanese film by Philip Kan Gotanda, based on his play of the same name. It tells the story of a newly separated nisei couple, husband Nobu and wife Masi, and their individual and collective struggles with their past, which along with their marriage centered on Japanese tradition, despite their residing in the United States.

After what is implied to be many stressful years of mistreatment, Masi leaves Nobu early in the story due to his intolerably sexist nature, and is able to move on and begins dating the widower Sadao. Nobu does not similarly move on, and begins to panic at the loss of Masi. As a result of this "abandonment", as Nobu tends to classify it, Nobu is forced to confront both his traumatic memories of the Japanese internment camps, which the story establishes as the root of his inflexible nature, and the reality of the consequences this inflexibility has finally produced for him. The story does not end with any reunion between Masi and Nobu; Masi not only stays with Sadao, but also, symbolically, in the final scene, refuses to any longer do Nobu's clothes wash for him, as she had during all the years of their marriage. It is, of course, this aspect of the plot from which the story's name is obtained.
