Millionaires (group)

Millionaires is an American electropop group consisting of two sisters, Melissa Marie and Allison Maria Green. The group, formed in August 2007, is widely known for mixing heavily explicit lyrics with a heavy electropop backing. Ex member Dani Artaud was in the original line up. Their image and lyrics have generated strong controversy (mainly for using explicit words in nearly all of their songs). The group has released three EPs, a single "Stay the Night" - which managed to chart for a short time in the UK - and their debut album, Tonight, released in March 2013. As of July 2015 the group are searching for a music producer.

History

Beginnings (2007–2010)

Millionaires started in late Summer 2007 "as an accident" when sisters Melissa and Allison Green used GarageBand. The song was titled "I Like Money", and the teens then created a corresponding MySpace profile named Millionaires. The third member, Dani Artaud, joined the group after Melissa Marie asked her to join. Later, they created their second song, called "Hoe Down".

The Millionaires is a novel written by Brad Meltzer examining the inner workings of private banking. After taking $3,000,000 from an abandoned account, brothers Oliver and Charlie Caruso are forced to escape the Secret Service. According to WorldCat, the book is in 2191 libraries

Plot synopsis

What started as the perfect crime for a pair of employees at the private banking firm of Greene & Greene takes a turn for the worse. Charlie and Oliver Caruso work at Greene & Greene, a private bank that is so exclusive you need at least two million dollars just to be a client. The brothers are denied a promotion. As one opportunity closes, though, another reveals itself. A mysterious benefactor brings to their attention an abandoned bank account. No one knows of the account's existence, it doesn't belong to anyone, and it contains three million dollars. IT is the brothers' for the taking. The brothers see the abandoned account as their way into a new life, debt-free. As soon as they take the money though, things take a turn for the worse. A friend of theirs dies, and then the eyes of the Secret Service, their bank, and a female private investigator turn on them. The brothers must scramble to find out who is pulling the invisible strings of that account, how they will prove their innocence, and what they need to do escape the Secret Service. In the process, their trust and relationship is tested.

The Millionaires (band)

The Millionaires were a Dutch pop group founded 1968 best known for their song at the Nationaal Songfestival of 1982, "Fantasy Island".

Their first major success was the song for the 1980 Summer Olympics "Never Give In", written by the Italian singer Toto Cutugno. The single was released under the name of the band's original singer Jay Delmore (Jaap van der Mooren), who died the same year. After Delmore's death the band had two female singers, Carmen Montana and Angela Irrgang. The next major success, "Fantasy Island" , was written by Martin Duiser and Piet Souer, and released in both Dutch and English versions, but covered again in English by British group Tight Fit.
