The Way It Is (also known as The Way It Is or Eurydice in the Avenues) is an American 1985 film written and directed by Eric Mitchell and starring Steve Buscemi.
A group of actors in the East Village of New York City have been rehearsing for a play when the lead actress in the play turns up dead.
The Way It Is is Bruce Hornsby and the Range's debut album, released in 1986. Led by its hit title track, the album went on to achieve multi-platinum status and helped the group to win the Grammy Award for Best New Artist. Other hits from the album include "Mandolin Rain" and "Every Little Kiss". Fellow musician Huey Lewis is also featured on the album, lending his harmonica on "Every Little Kiss" and vocal talents to the track "Down the Road Tonight". Lewis also helped produce the song, along with the tracks "The Long Race" and "The River Runs Low".
The original album cover featured an impressionistic photograph of Bruce Hornsby playing an accordion, and was originally targeted at the New Age music market and featured slightly different versions of the songs "Down the Road Tonight" and "The River Runs Low."
Once the album's tracks started to receive regular airplay on Pop Music stations in late 1986, the album was remixed and was re-released with a new cover featuring a segment of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel.
The Way was a Jesus music band who were active from 1971 to 1976. They released two albums on Maranatha! Records and contributed four non-LP tracks to their label's compilation series and one LP track was pulled for the first label retrospective.
The first recordings by The Way appeared on the Maranatha! compilation albums, The Everlastin' Living Jesus Music Concert with the song "If You Will Believe", and Maranatha! 2 with "Jesus Is the One" and "Jesus Is All that We Need".
Their self-titled debut album was recorded at Buddy King Studios in Huntington Beach. It was self-produced and had a smooth mixture of folk and country rock that reminds the listener of America.
With their second album the band took a giant step by adding more of a rock edge to many of the songs while staying true to their country roots. It was recorded at Mama Jo's in North Hollywood and produced by Al Perkins. It was recorded in the nighttime and early-morning hours, because of Ambrosia's daytime sessions.
"The Way" is the third single released in 2001 by American R&B/soul singer-songwriter Jill Scott, from her debut album, Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1 on Hidden Beach. The song was her second top 20 hit on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart and peaked at number 60 on the Hot 100 chart.
"The Way" is a song recorded by American singer Ariana Grande for her debut studio album, Yours Truly (2013). It was written by the song's producer Harmony Samuels, alongside Amber Streeter, Al Sherrod Lambert, Jordin Sparks, Priscilla Ahn, Brenda Russell, and Mac Miller, who is featured in the song. "The Way" was released on March 25, 2013 by Republic Records as the lead single from Yours Truly. The song's backing track is based on the piano melody from Russell's 1979 song "A Little Bit of Love", and the song has melodic and lyrical similarities to Big Pun's 1998 song "Still Not a Player", which also samples "A Little Bit of Love".
The song received acclaim from critics, with some comparing Grande's vocals to those of Mariah Carey. Commercially, the song was successful in the United States, debuting and peaking within the top 10 of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 becoming Grande and Miller's first top ten success on the chart. This made Grande the first top 10 arrival for a lead female artist making her first Hot 100 appearance since Yael Naim, who launched with "New Soul" back in 2008. Internationally, the song managed moderate chart success peaking within the top 40 of most territories. As of August 2014, "The Way" has sold over 3 million copies in the United States and has been certified triple platinum.
Standing in line marking time-
Waiting for the welfare dime
'Cause they can't buy a job
The man in the silk suit hurries by
As he catches the poor ladies' eyes
Just for fun he says "get a job"
CHORUS
That's just the way it is
Some things will never change
That's just the way it is
But don't you believe them
They say he little boy you can't go
Where the others go
'Cause you don't look like they do
Said hey old man how can you stand
To think that way
Did you really think about it
Before you made the rules
He said, Son
CHORUS
Well they passed a law in '64
To give those who ain't got a little more
But it only goes so far
Because the law don't change another's mind
When all it sees at the hiring time
Is the line on the color bar
CHORUS
