The Vampyre

"The Vampyre" is a short work of prose fiction written in 1819 by John William Polidori. The work is often viewed as the progenitor of the romantic vampire genre of fantasy fiction. The work is described by Christopher Frayling as "the first story successfully to fuse the disparate elements of vampirism into a coherent literary genre."

Characters

Plot

Aubrey, a young Englishman, meets Lord Ruthven, a man of mysterious origins who has entered London society. Aubrey accompanies Ruthven to Rome, but leaves him after Ruthven seduces the daughter of a mutual acquaintance. Aubrey travels to Greece, where he becomes attracted to Ianthe, an innkeeper's daughter. Ianthe tells Aubrey about the legends of the vampire. Ruthven arrives at the scene and shortly thereafter Ianthe is killed by a vampire. Aubrey does not connect Ruthven with the murder and rejoins him in his travels. The pair is attacked by bandits and Ruthven is mortally wounded. Before he dies, Ruthven makes Aubrey swear an oath that he will not mention his death or anything else he knows about Ruthven for a year and a day. Looking back, Aubrey realizes that everyone whom Ruthven met ended up suffering.

Tyla

Biography

Tyla (born Timothy Taylor) is an English rock musician, best known for his work with The Dogs D'Amour as well as an extensive solo catalogue. As well as performing vocals, guitars and other instruments, he also illustrates the album covers in his own recognisable style.

The Dogs D'amour

In 1982 Tyla was serving as guitarist for the band Bordello Boys. When vocalist Ned Christie joined the band he brought with him a change of name, which was the beginning of The Dogs D'Amour. On the back of the second of two recording sessions, The Dogs D'Amour were signed to Kumibeat Records in Finland.

The recording and release of The State We're' In was problematic. Ned Christie left the band prior to the recording, resulting in Tyla adopting the role of both guitars and vocals. Additionally, the production encountered a number of issues, most notably the album producer remixing everything to add synths, against the band's wishes. The album was released on vinyl in Finland but Kumibeat Records folded shortly after. The Kumibeat mix has never been released on CD or in any format outside of Finland. A cassette-sourced copy of the original mix has since been released, although has been criticised for its sound quality.

List of Bratz characters

When Bratz was originally released in 2001, there were only 4 characters: Yasmin, Cloe, Sasha, and Jade. These four were produced in the majority of Bratz lines and are the main characters of the Bratz. In 2015, a new character, Raya, was introduced as the fifth main character. Over 10 years after the debut of the Bratz, over 100 characters were added to the Bratz world.
