Elf Power is an indie rock band that originated in Athens, Georgia. Currently, the line-up consists of guitarist/vocalist Andrew Rieger, keyboardist Laura Carter, guitarist Jimmy Hughes, bassist Derek Almstead, and drummer Eric Harris. They are part of the Elephant Six Collective.
The band began as a four-track recording project of Rieger, his then girlfriend Carter, Raleigh Hatfield and Dave Wrathgeber, later of Fablefactory. These recording sessions eventually resulted in the first incarnation of their debut album Vainly Clutching at Phantom Limbs. The band's line-up expanded when Reiger and Carter recruited Elephant Six musician Bryan Poole, also known as The Late B.P. Helium. While the band occasionally played live shows and continued to record, Poole chiefly stayed in Athens to continue work with Of Montreal while Rieger and Carter moved to New York City.
After residing in New York for some time, the band released The Winter Hawk EP in 1995. Eventually, Rieger and Carter were convinced to move back to Athens, where the band's second album When the Red King Comes was ultimately recorded and released as a joint venture between the Arena Rock Recording Co. and the Elephant Six label. The album featured contributions by members of The Olivia Tremor Control, Kevin Barnes of Of Montreal, and Jeff Mangum of Neutral Milk Hotel.
The Outsider or The Stranger (French: L’Étranger) is a novel by Albert Camus published in 1942. Its theme and outlook are often cited as exemplars of Camus's philosophy of the absurd and existentialism, though Camus personally rejected the latter label.
The title character is Meursault, an indifferent French Algerian ("a citizen of France domiciled in North Africa, a man of the Mediterranean, an homme du midi yet one who hardly partakes of the traditional Mediterranean culture"), who, after attending his mother's funeral, apathetically kills an Arab man whom he recognises in French Algiers. The story is divided into two parts, presenting Meursault's first-person narrative view before and after the murder, respectively.
In January 1955, Camus wrote: "I summarized The Stranger a long time ago, with a remark I admit was highly paradoxical: 'In our society any man who does not weep at his mother's funeral runs the risk of being sentenced to death.' I only meant that the hero of my book is condemned because he does not play the game."
The Stranger (Turkish: Yabancı) is a 2012 Turkish drama film directed by Filiz Alpgezmen. It was entered into the 18th London Turkish Film Festival.
The film centres around a young French-Turkish woman of Turkish origin. She is trying to fulfill her late father's last wish - to be buried in Istanbul, despite being defined as a "revolutionary" who left Turkey undercover during the 1980 coup d'état.
The Stranger is a collection of science fiction stories by Gordon R. Dickson. It was first published by Tor Books in 1987. Most of the stories originally appeared in the magazines Fantasy and Science Fiction, Satellite, Imagination, Astounding, Saturn, Analog Science Fiction and Fact, Fantastic, Science Fiction Stories, Future and If.
Lift me up through the tops of the trees,
and I'll sleep till the morning,
come to live in the glorious dream,
let me sleep till the morning
I'm thinking of drinking the entire sea
Where fishes make wishes and swim into me,
There is no place other that I'd rather be,
Oh what a beautiful dream
Just remember invisible eyes,
They will see you clearly,
So surrender now into the night,
and you'll sleep so deeply
I'm thinking of drinking the entire sea
Where fishes make wishes and swim into me,
There is no place other that I'd rather be,
Oh what a beautiful dream
And I've lost my head inside the dream,
And I’ll pain the scene for you
But not before I wake from sleep
No, not before I wake from sleep
