The Stand Up
The Stand Up is a 2011 American comedy/drama film written and directed by David Wexler and stars Jonathan Sollis, Margarita Levieva, Arija Bareikis, and Aidan Quinn.
Plot
Stand-up comic Zoe Hardwick is desperately in love with his beautiful girlfriend, Miranda (Julia Dennis). When she dies tragically, Zoe is devastated and drops his budding career, moves back home, and pines after his departed love for a year. His father, the principal of an elementary school, decides that one year of moping around the house is enough and forces Zoe to take a job teaching kindergarten, Zoe finds himself standing before a very different demographic. The innocent insights of the children help Zoe in finally healing. He meets fellow kindergarten teacher, Veronica (Margarita Levieva) and a new love is kindled.

"The Stand" is the lead single from Canadian band Mother Mother's third album, Eureka. It is the first song from Mother Mother to chart in the Canadian Hot 100, where it went to No. 76.
Music video
The music video, for the most part, features band members Ryan Guldemond, Molly Guldemond, and Jasmin Parkin sitting in a white room with Ryan on one couch and the two girls on the other. Molly and Jasmin are dressed oddly, and also have crazy hairstyles. The two are giving Ryan a counseling session, and what they talk about appear as images on the walls. Occasionally, band members Ali Siadat and Jeremy Page also can be seen sitting on the couch with Ryan. The video also cuts to scenes of the band performing in the (presumably) same white room.

The Stand (miniseries)
The Stand is a 1994 American television miniseries based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King. King also wrote the teleplay and has a cameo role in the series. It was directed by Mick Garris and stars Gary Sinise, Miguel Ferrer, Rob Lowe, Ossie Davis, Ruby Dee, Jamey Sheridan, Laura San Giacomo, Molly Ringwald, Corin Nemec, Adam Storke, Ray Walston, and Matt Frewer. It originally aired on ABC starting on May 8, 1994.
Plot
At a government laboratory in rural California, a weaponized version of influenza (called Project Blue) is accidentally released, immediately wiping out everyone on staff except for military policeman Charles Campion, who flees the base with his family. However, Campion is already infected by the superflu, nicknamed "Captain Trips", and spreads it to the outside world. Days later, Campion crashes his car at a gas station in East Texas, where Stu Redman (Gary Sinise) and some friends have gathered. When they investigate, they find Campion dying of the flu next to his wife and baby daughter, who are already dead. Campion tells Stu with his dying breath that he was followed from the base by a mysterious figure and states: "You can't outrun the Dark Man". The next day, the U.S. military arrives to quarantine the town. While the other townspeople quickly become ill and die, Stu remains healthy and is confined at a CDC facility in Vermont, in order to research a possible cure. The research proves futile, and the superflu rages unchecked, causing civilization to collapse and killing over 99% of the entire world's population in less than two months.
The Stand: Captain Trips
The Stand: Captain Trips is a five-issue comic book miniseries, the first of six The Stand series by Marvel Comics, adapting Stephen King's novel of the same name. It is to be overseen by King, written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, illustrated by Mike Perkins, and colored by Laura Martin. "Captain Trips" refers to both the title of the first third of The Stand and of a slang term used within the novel for a viral biological weapon that obliterates a significant portion of the world's human population.
A promotional sketchbook for the series was released in July.
Issues
A collected edition of the mini-series was released on March 11, 2009. It included all five issues of the series, as well as the previously released Sketchbook, a comprehensive cover gallery, and additional pages on the development of the series (e.g., character sketches, script pages, sketch pages).
Promotion
Artist Mike Perkins appeared at a midnight signing at Midtown Comics in Times Square, Manhattan to promote the book. Perkins appeared with Peter David, the co-writer of Marvel's Dark Tower comics, who was present to promote the publication of The Dark Tower: Treachery.
Correspondent

In Britain, the term 'correspondent' usually refers to someone with a specific specialist area, such as health correspondent. A 'reporter' is usually someone without such expertise who is allocated stories by the newsdesk on any story in the news.

Go West (song)
"Go West" is a song by the American disco group Village People. It was an instant hit in the disco scene during the late 1970s. The song found further success when it was covered in 1993 by English synthpop duo Pet Shop Boys. Original Village People lead singer Victor Willis, Henri Belolo and Jacques Morali are credited as the song's writers, although Willis disputes Belolo's involvement.
Village People version
Originally released as a single in 1979, it was not as popular as the group's other contemporary singles such as "Y.M.C.A." and "In the Navy". The song's title is attributed to the nineteenth century quote "Go West, young man" commonly attributed to Horace Greeley, a rallying cry for the colonization of the American West. Though Victor Willis denies writing the song with a gay theme in mind, "Go West" is generally understood as an expression of the 1970s sentiment of San Francisco as a utopia for the Gay Liberation movement.
Both the 7" and 12" versions of the song were subsequently collected in various greatest hits collections, including a 1997 radio remix which was made in the wake of the success of Pet Shop Boys' 1993 version.
