Matt Collar of All Music gave the album 4 out of 5, saying; “Australian rock outfit the Rubens' 2012 self-titled debut showcases the band's dark, melodic soulful pop. The album finds the band splitting the difference between a Baroque, piano-driven '60s pop approach and a contemporary, bass-heavy garage rock sound. Think Britain's Ed Harcourt meets the Black Keys.”
The Rubens debuted and peaked at #3 in Australia.
Sir Peter Paul Rubens (/ˈruːbənz/;Dutch: [ˈrybə(n)s]; 28 June 1577 – 30 May 1640) was a Flemish Baroque painter. A proponent of an extravagant Baroque style that emphasized movement, colour, and sensuality, Rubens is well known for his Counter-Reformation altarpieces, portraits, landscapes, and history paintings of mythological and allegorical subjects.
In addition to running a large studio in Antwerp that produced paintings popular with nobility and art collectors throughout Europe, Rubens was a classically educated humanist scholar and diplomat who was knighted by both Philip IV of Spain and Charles I of England.
Rubens was born in the city of Siegen to Jan Rubens and Maria Pypelincks. His father, a Calvinist, and mother fled Antwerp for Cologne in 1568, after increased religious turmoil and persecution of Protestants during the rule of the Spanish Netherlands by the Duke of Alba.
Jan Rubens became the legal adviser (and lover) of Anna of Saxony, the second wife of William I of Orange, and settled at her court in Siegen in 1570, fathering her daughter Christine who was born in 1571.
The Rubens was an express train that linked Gare du Nord in Paris, France, with Bruxelles-Midi / Brussel-Zuid in Brussels, Belgium. The train was named after Belgian painter Peter Paul Rubens.
The Rubens was introduced together with the TEE Memling in the TEE-network to cope with the raising number of passengers between Paris and Brussels. Both services were the first in the morning, the Rubens departed from Brussels at 6:42 in the morning, while the Memling departed from the Gare du Nord in Paris at 6:45. The return services were scheduled as the fifth of the six daily TEEs in both directions, departing around 6:45 p.m.
In 1987 the Rubens was, like the other Paris-Brussels TEE services, integrated into the new EuroCity network. On 23 May 1993 the EuroCity services between Paris and Brussels were classified as TEE again. After the opening of the LGV-Nord on 23 January 1995 the Rubens was withdrawn.
Rubens (Dutch: Rubens, schilder en diplomaat) is a 1977 Belgian drama film directed by Roland Verhavert. The film was selected as the Belgian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 50th Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee.
It's cold outside And I'm not quite Ready for the morning light My hands are tied Cause if I tried To leave this place I'd surely die
Hey, hey, hey, I'd surely die
There's stories of Way back when A guy got out and made it there I think I'm gonna give it a try Even though I'll surely die
Hey, hey, hey, I'd surely die
