The Ring Two

The Ring Two is a 2005 American psychological horror film, and a sequel to the 2002 film The Ring, which was a remake of the 1998 Japanese film Ringu. Hideo Nakata, director of the original Japanese film Ringu, on which the American versions are based, directed this film in place of Gore Verbinski.

This sequel is not based on any of the Japanese sequels to Ringu and is an original storyline, continuing from The Ring.

The movie was filmed in Astoria, Oregon and Los Angeles, California. It was released on March 18, 2005 and although it was met by generally negative critical reception, it opened in the United States with a strong US$35 million its first weekend, more than doubling the opening weekend of The Ring. Its final $76 million domestic gross was less than the original's $129 million, but it took $85 million internationally, for a total gross of $161 million.

Plot

In the coastal town of Astoria, Oregon approximately six months after the events of the first movie, a teenage boy named Jake asks a classmate named Emily over to his house, under the guise of studying together; however, his motives are actually centered on having her watch Samara Morgan's cursed video tape, as his seven-day deadline is fast approaching. Emily plays the tape while Jake waits in the kitchen, but when he returns to the living room, it is revealed that she covered her eyes throughout the tape, and thus didn't see any of it. As she failed to perpetuate the guidelines of the tape's curse, Samara crawls out of the television and kills Jake in front of Emily.

Ring 2

Ring 2 (リング2, Ringu 2) (1999), directed by Hideo Nakata, is the sequel to the Japanese horror film, Ring.

Ring was originally a novel written by Koji Suzuki; its sequel, Rasen (aka Spiral), was also adapted into a movie as the Ring movie's sequel. However, due to the poor response to Rasen, Ring 2 was made as a new sequel to Ring, not based on Suzuki's works, and thus ultimately ignores the story of Rasen.

Ring 2 takes place a couple of weeks after the first film, directly continuing the story and features most of the cast from Ring reprising their roles.

Plot

After the body of Sadako Yamamura is retrieved from a well, her uncle Takaishi is summoned by police to identify her. Detective Omuta explains to Takaishi that forensics concluded Sadako may have survived in the well for thirty years. Forensics experts reconstruct her body, giving it to Takaishi, who gives his niece a burial at sea, hoping to be free from the guilt he has carried since her mother Shizuko committed suicide because of his actions. The police search for Reiko Asakawa following the sudden death of her ex-husband Ryuji Takayama and her father Koichi a week later. Mai Takano, Ryuji’s university assistant, investigates his death, visiting Reiko’s news office where her colleague Okazaki joins Mai in her search for answers. They find a burnt out videotape in Reiko’s apartment, Mai sensing Reiko’s father died the same way as Ryuji.

Ring 2 (Aarhus)

Ring 2, or Ringvejen, is the outermost ring road surrounding the city of Aarhus in Denmark.

Ring 2 bounds the outer neighborhoods of the central urban area. It is part of the Danish national road network and is numbered 02, denoting a ring road. The total length of the road is about 14.5 km.

Ring 2 is composed of 6 stretches of road, from Ringvej Syd in the South in Viby to Vejlby Ringvej in the North in Vejlby and Risskov.

Ring 2 (Oslo)

Ring 2, sometimes called Kirkeveiringen and until 2010 officially known as National Road 161 (Norwegian: Riksvei 161), and now also officially County road 161 (Norwegian: Fylkesvei 161), is an important ring road and surface street through densely populated parts of Oslo, Norway.

Geography

It stretches from Skøyen to Lodalen, a length of 9.7 km. The most important locations along the route are Skøyen, Frogner, Majorstuen, Lindern, Sagene, Carl Berners plass, Tøyen and Galgeberg. Important institutions like the Frogner Park, the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation, Ullevål University Hospital and the University of Oslo are situated along or near the road. The name of streets are Drammensveien—Halvdan Svartes gate—Kirkeveien—Griffenfeldts gate—Marcus Thranes gate—Christian Michelsens gate—Finnmarkgaten—Kjølberggaten—Åkebergveien—St. Halvards gate—Kværnerveien.

Traffic

Ring 2 is used by both cars and public transportation. The traffic on the route is separated only with traffic lights and roundabouts. The road is connected to major highways such as European route E18, National Road 4 and National Road 190. Major parts of Ring 2 are heavily congested during peak hours, because of low capacity and many large intersections. The route was originally planned to have 4 lanes, but several parts have only 2 lanes. The entire route is a priority road and the speed limit is 50 km/h.

The Ring (2002 film)

The Ring is a 2002 American supernatural psychological horror film directed by Gore Verbinski and starring Naomi Watts. It is a remake of the 1998 Japanese horror film Ring, which was based on the novel Ring by Koji Suzuki.

The Ring was released in theaters on October 18, 2002 and received mostly positive reviews, with many critics praising the reliance on dread and visuals over gore and the direction along with the screenplay writing but criticizing the character development. The film also grossed over $249 million on a $48 million production budget making it one of the highest grossing horror films of all time. The film was followed by two sequels, The Ring Two (2005) and Rings (2016).

The Ring is notable for being the first American remake of a Japanese horror classic and for paving the way for a number of subsequent J-Horror remakes such as The Grudge, Dark Water, Pulse, and One Missed Call.

Plot

Teenagers Katie Embry and Becca Kotler discuss the urban legend of a cursed videotape that kills the viewer seven days after watching it. Katie admits she watched the tape with her boyfriend and two others at a campsite a week ago. Suddenly, the telephone rings and both of the teenagers are initially startled but the caller turns out to be Katie's mother. After finishing speaking with her mother, Katie begins to notice eerie noises coming from upstairs, where her friend had supposedly gone. After witnessing other paranormal phenomenon, Katie hesitantly yells to Becca from the bottom of the stairs, as the sounds become intensely unsettling for her. Reaching the top of the stairs, Katie notices water leaking from her bedroom and as soon as she opens the door, she sees an image of a well on her TV screen, which frightens her to death. Becca is later institutionalised after witnessing Katie's death.

Rings (2016 film)

Rings, previously titled as The Ring 3D, is an upcoming American supernatural psychological horror film directed by F. Javier Gutiérrez and written by David Loucka, Jacob Aaron Estes and Akiva Goldsman. This is the third feature film in the American franchise based on the Japanese horror film Ring, following The Ring and The Ring Two. The film is produced by Laurie MacDonald. The film stars Matilda Lutz, Alex Roe and Johnny Galecki. Principal photography began on March 23, 2015 in Atlanta. The film will be released on April 1, 2016.

Plot

Julia is a high school student whose college boyfriend, Holt, has grown distant. Fearing they’re drifting apart, she travels to see him and finds out that he’s part of a club of college students who pass Samara's tape between each other. Julia discovers Holt watched the cursed tape six and a half days ago, meaning that by the end of the day, he would die. The curse is what brought them back together, but it’s also what threatens to kill them.

The Ring (South Park)

"The Ring" is the thirteenth season premiere of the American animated television series South Park, and the 182nd overall episode of the series. It first aired on Comedy Central in the United States on March 11, 2009. In the episode, Kenny and his new girlfriend are encouraged by the Jonas Brothers to wear purity rings, which is secretly a marketing tactic by Disney to sell sex to young girls.

The episode was written and directed by series co-founder Trey Parker and is rated TV-MA L in the United States. It was the first South Park episode to premiere in 16:9 and high definition. Parker and Stone were not very familiar with the Jonas Brothers before they wrote "The Ring", which was inspired by the recent release of Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience. The two argued over whether to open the season with this episode or an episode focusing on the economic recession ("Margaritaville"), but eventually decided they needed more time to craft a script for the latter.

"The Ring" portrays Disney as a corporation using the ruse of family-friendly morals to disguise their primary motive of profit, particularly through the portrayal of Mickey Mouse as a foul-mouthed, greedy, and physically violent company president. The episode received generally positive reviews and, according to Nielsen Media Research, was seen by 3.41 million viewers the week it was broadcast. The publicist for the Jonas Brothers specifically forbade reporters from asking the band about the episode; although Nick Jonas said they did not watch it, he did say it was an honor to be included in the show. "The Ring" was released on DVD and Blu-ray along with the rest of the thirteenth season on March 16, 2010.
