The Red Sun Band (styled as theredsunband) is a rock band from Sydney, Australia. Composed of sisters Sarah Kelly (guitar, lead vocals) and Lizzie Kelly (keyboards, tambourine, backing vocals), the band performs and records as a three-piece, with the addition of a male drummer/backing vocalist.
The band are inspired by acts such as Mazzy Star and Cat Power, which is evident in both their production ethic and the treatment of the lead vocals. On the local front, the band received support from the numerous mid-late '90s Australian bands who played a brand of atmospheric indie-rock informed by the shoegaze movement of the early '90s, such as Sounds Like Sunset and Gersey, who gave the band their earliest support slots.
The band originally played as a two-piece, with Sarah on bass and John Matthews on guitar. Serendipitously, the two founding members of the group had previously met at kindergarten. "In the class photo we are the two kids at the front holding the sign; 'Arncliffe West Public School Year Kindi 1986'", writes Matthews on the band's official site.
"The Red" is the breakthrough single from the band Chevelle. It is the fifth track and lead single from their major label debut, Wonder What's Next, released in 2002. Former Major League Baseball player Geoff Blum used "The Red" as his intro song when he came up to bat.
The song is about dealing with frustration and anger. Its music video depicts an anger management seminar where vocalist Pete Loeffler ascends a podium and sings the verse lyrics. The video then breaks to Chevelle performing the heavy chorus under red lighting. The agitated seminar participants, which include band members Sam and Joe, begin tossing folding chairs. By the end of the song, it is revealed that the fight happened to be just a dream.
"The Red" is the breakthrough single from the Chicago-based hard rock band Chevelle. The Red may also refer to:

I can't say just how it began
Drivin' across the western sand
Something I could not understand
Overcome by this Lentenland
Drive into a Red Sun
I can feel it wrap around my soul
Drive into a Red Sun
I can feel the future take control
...as I drive
Oh, the next move is mine
I knew this chance would come in time
Weaving it's way into my mind
Where the mortal reaches divine
Drive into a Red Sun
I can feel it wrap around my soul
Drive into a Red Sun
I can feel the future take control
...as I drive
Hey man, you're gonna change the world
You're gonna change the world, you're gonna
Drive into a Red Sun
I can feel it wrap around my soul
Drive into a Red Sun
I can feel the future take control
