The Record (Troy)

The Record (also known as The Troy Record) is a tabloid-style daily newspaper published in Troy, New York. The paper has been published regularly since 1896. It covers all of New York's Capital Region and specifically the city of Troy, which is the third largest city in the Capital area. On September 1, 2005, The Record changed from a traditional broadsheet layout to a tabloid format similar to that of certain big-city newspapers.

The current editor of The Record is Lisa Robert Lewis, and the publisher is Jim Murphy. Its offices are located on Broadway in downtown Troy.

The Record is the official newspaper of the City of Cohoes.

The Record (Bergen County)

The Record (colloquially called The Bergen Record or The Record of Hackensack) is a newspaper in northern New Jersey, United States. It primarily serves Bergen County, though it also covers Hudson, Essex and Passaic counties as well. It has the second largest circulation of New Jersey's daily newspapers, behind The Star-Ledger. Founded in 1895 and owned by the Borg family since 1930, it is the flagship publication of the North Jersey Media Group. Stephen A. Borg is the publisher of The Record. The paper is edited by Martin Gottlieb.

For years, The Record had its primary offices in Hackensack with a bureau in Wayne. Following the purchase of the competing Herald News of Passaic, both papers began centralizing operations in what is now Woodland Park, where The Record is currently located.

History

In 1930 John Borg, a Wall Street financier, bought The Record.

From 1952 to 1963 the circulation of The Record doubled and its coverage changed from local to regional. It was one of the papers whose editorial position was in favor of the Metropolitan Regional Council (MRC)

The Record (album)

The Record is the debut studio album by the American hardcore punk band Fear, released in 1982.

Release and reception

The Record was released on May 16, 1982, on Slash Records with the catalog number SR 111. It was re-released on CD in 2007 with the single "Fuck Christmas" as a bonus track.

The album has been regarded as Fear's best album and as a classic album of the 1980s Los Angeles hardcore punk scene. It has received mostly positive reviews, with Mark Deming of Allmusic rating the album 4.5 out of 5 stars and stating that it "makes sense that John Belushi was a big fan of Fear, because The Record sounds like the punk equivalent of the movie Animal House -- puerile, offensive, and often reveling in its own ignorance, but pretty entertaining on a non-think level while it lasts." He also stated that Fear had a "fairly unique perspective -- they seemingly embraced punk as an efficient way to piss off everyone around them, and there's no arguing that they achieved their goals with flying colors on their first and best album, The Record."Kurt Cobain listed it in his top 50 albums of all time.

The Record (magazine)

The Record was a Canadian music industry magazine that featured record charts, trade news and opinions. David Farrell launched the publication in mid-1981, continuing its printed version until August 1999 when The Record continued as a website-based publication. The singles and albums chart featured in the magazine were featured as the Canadian lists in the Hits of the World section in Billboard.

In March 2001, shortly after the demise of competing publication RPM, Farrell announced the complete shutdown of The Record. The demise was blamed on insufficient advertising and online subscription revenues.The Record editor Steve McLean began the Canadian Music Network publication in May of that year.

Troy Transit Center

Troy Transit Center is an Amtrak station in Troy, Michigan served by the Wolverine. This station replaced Birmingham Amtrak station on October 14, 2014, and is located about 1200 feet southwest on Doyle Drive in Troy, Michigan.

Description

The Troy Transit Center brings together the services of Amtrak, Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART) buses and taxis. Designed by local architectural firm Neumann/Smith, the one story, 2,000 square foot brick building includes a waiting room and restrooms; large expanses of glass allow natural light to flood the interior. A pedestrian bridge over the tracks allows access to the western platform and protects passengers from inclement weather.

History

In 2000, Grand Sakwa Properties gave the city of Troy title to 77 acres, 2.7 of which would be donated with the provision that funding for a transit center be secured within 10 years. In 2011, the cities of Birmingham and Troy were awarded a federal grant to assist in replacing the existing station with a new, multimodal transit center across the tracks in Troy. However, the mayor of Troy rejected the funding on ideological grounds, thus terminating the project. The $6.6 million project was resurrected by a subsequent Troy city administration, and broke ground on November 27, 2012, and was completed in October 2013. A legal dispute over title to the land kept the center from opening. In late September 2014, a settlement by Troy to acquire the land and lease the site to Amtrak was reached, and the station opened on October 14, 2014.

Large Martian craters (greater than 60 km in diameter) are named after famous scientists and science fiction authors; smaller ones (less than 60 km in diameter) get their names from towns on Earth. Craters cannot be named for living people, and small crater names are not intended to be commemorative - that is, a small crater isn't actually named after a specific town on Earth, but rather its name comes at random from a pool of terrestrial place names, with some exceptions made for craters near landing sites. Latitude and longitude are given as planetographic coordinates with west longitude.
