The Qube may refer to one of two buildings:
The Qube, previously known as the Chase Tower, the Bank One Center, and the National Bank of Detroit Building, is a high-rise office building and Quicken Loans operations center in the U.S. designated Detroit Financial District at 611 Woodward Avenue, in Downtown Detroit, Michigan. It was built in 1959 and stands at 14 floors in height and was completely remodeled in 2011. It was designed in the modern architectural style, and uses a great deal of marble to coordinate with the buildings in the nearby Civic Center. It was designed by Albert Kahn Associates.
The Qube stands on the site of Detroit's first skyscraper, the Hammond Building. The ground floor of this building is a massive 1.5-story glass sheathed, banking hall. The building was known as 'Chase Tower' from 2006 to 2011 to reflect Chase Bank's buyout of Bank One. In March 2007, the Sterling Group purchased the tower from JP Morgan Chase. Occupancy was approximately 50 percent at the time of sale. The building has had 3 official names now, for each of the 3 successive banks that have owned it: National Bank of Detroit (NBD), succeeded by Bank One, and lastly Chase. The building has gone by several names in the past, most notably: Bank One Center, National Bank of Detroit Building, Bank One Building and Chase Tower.
The Qube is a building in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
It was built as the headquarters for Westcoast Transmission Co. in 1969 and won the 1970–71 Design in Steel Award from the American Iron and Steel Institute. It was known as the Westcoast Transmission Building from 1969 to 2000, Duke Energy Building from 2000 to 2004, and then was renovated to condominiums as the Qube in 2005.
The building was built from the top down. The thirteen-story core was built first then steel was hung from cables at the top and the 9 occupied floors were successively built downwards.
It is considered to be one of Vancouver's most earthquake-resistant structures.
The building's address was changed from 1333 W. Georgia St to 1383 W. Georgia St. during the condominium conversion. It is located in Vancouver's West End, halfway between the main business district and Stanley Park.
The building was used in the television series MacGyver as the headquarters for the fictional Phoenix Foundation, employer of the title character.
Qube may refer to:
QUBE was a cable television system that played a pivotal role in the history of American cable television. Launched in Columbus, Ohio, on December 1, 1977, QUBE introduced viewers, and the international press, to several concepts that became central to the future development of cable television: pay-per-view programs, special-interest cable television networks, and interactive services.
A closed-circuit television system at the Otani Hotel in Japan inspired Steve Ross, Chairman of Warner Communications, to wonder what could be done to improve the performance of Warner’s tiny cable television division. Ross was intrigued by the potential of delivering Warner Bros. movies directly to home subscribers.
At the time, Warner Cable was a tiny division of Warner Communications, run by a former Western Union telecommunications executive and attorney, Gus Hauser. Ross surrounded Hauser with entertainment industry executives—Jac Holzman, who had sold his Elektra Records to Ross in 1967; Mike Dann, the CBS programming wizard responsible for The Beverly Hillbillies and Green Acres; former CBS general counsel Spencer Harrison, an executive involved in the launch of My Fair Lady on Broadway; and super-agent Ted Ashley, whose talent agency was Ross’s first show-biz acquisition.
While growing up in the ghetto
My time went fast
see I be stealing from the grown ups
running from the tasks
as i dash through the grass everyday
skipping class
my daddy dont be tripping
so you can kiss my ass
pass the doogie doobie lefthand side
only nine years old getting high getting high
I wonder why my teacher's sweating me
I did my history It dont relate to me
my gpa 1.3
see i remember places the names streets dates
anybody rolling with stolen license plates
but if that faked out of date shit
wasnt in my way
ask me anything or where im from
i bet i get an A minus
in fact i am the finest
counting male faster than you can say your highness
dont combat me with dryness
cos i know the definition of any slang word
so what's that synonym you're wishing?
I want to be a lawyer
accused of a liar like LaToya
so im dropping the fourth grade
slinging lemonade
I am my own keeper
a young o'erachiever
ten cents a cup, im a gonna have to leave that shit to beaver
now I lay me down to sleep
cos i cant eat my noodles right
dead bodies every other night
we fucking up the appetite
tragedy is an everyday thing
put on a video game sit some time
if i can stand the pain
give me the knowledge from the street
now watch me learn it
I went to get a job
but too young for a work permit
dont come my way (fool)
I might just have to gack
they say we growing up fast
but we just dying faster
chorus
always dropping the good or villain cop
slam the child on the hard concrete
repeat
Well it's June 17th
it couldnt have came to me no quicker
11 years old
my chest a little thicker
how you figger
my life is gonna be bigger and better
when that path im rolling on
is similar to that crooked letter
once i get a better view
to check out that avenue
its drug infested
planted there just for me to be tested
on the hard concrete
now it's three years later
came for me literally
caught me up stacking that refrigerator
ator
catching shirley down the block
in the bucket
she stepped to the back
that's when i stuck it fuck it
my first piece of butt
it was just my luck
cause nine months later
at my door she showed up
damn I was stuck
reminiscing in my seat
I just turned sixteen but to me
it's not sweet
no edumaction
this combination of ghetto life
is a straine pass the ben gay cream
Eighteen looking as old as Don King
The indo in my brain
keep asking my
how many years is it until my life expectancy
well let's see
another three done take away
and now the hustling games a part of me
everyday
my life is on the line
fool you can catch my fist
cos any other place
can be a better place than this
im now dismissed
my body hit the concrete
the bullet had no name
as it was introduced to me
the next morning
headline front page
young man shot cos of death of age
Try to rise above it all
or drown in ...
chorus
man this is really something repeat
