The Oath

The Oath is the English title of Le serment de Kolvillag, a novel by Elie Wiesel. It tells the story of Azriel, the only surviving Jewish member of the small Hungarian town of Kolvillag after a pogrom perpetrated by neighboring Christians. Azriel carries the secret of Kollvilag's destruction within him, forbidden to share his experiences. However, when Azriel meets a young man on the brink of suicide fifty years later, he realizes that he must pass on his secret to save the young man's life - yet he is bound by his promise to the dead.

Le serment de Kolvillag is a powerful work told in fragments - the point of view changes from present-day Azriel, the Azriel of the past, the young man in the present, and the young man's past. It is unstructured to the point where it borders on Surrealism. Some of the themes of Le serment de Kolvillag include pogroms, death, old age, secrecy, silence, and modernity.

The recipient of the 1996 ECPA Gold Medallion Book Award for Best Fiction, The Oath is one of Peretti's most critically acclaimed and layered novels, having sold over one million copies worldwide. The story centers on the fictional mining town of Hyde River, the gruesome deaths of many of the townspeople, and an "oath" that the residents of Hyde River have taken up to hide the secret behind them.

    Plot Overview

When the partial remains of nature photographer Cliff Benson are found in the woods near Hyde River, his brother, Steve, investigates the mysterious attack. After finding problems with a theory involving a bear attack, he teams up with local sheriff's deputy Tracy Ellis. As the deaths continue and the townsfolk are pressed for information, they close ranks, under the mysterious "Oath" made when the town was founded. Steve and Tracy grow closer to each other as they peel away the mystery and come face to face with the dark evil behind the deaths.

  • List of X-Men (TV series) episodes

The first X-Men animated series debuted on October 31, 1992 on the Fox Network as part of the "Fox Kids" Saturday morning lineup. The plot was loosely adapted from famous storylines and events in the X-Men comics, such as the Dark Phoenix Saga, Days of Future Past, the Phalanx Covenant, and the Legacy Virus. The show features a team line-up similar to that of the early 1990s X-Men comic books: the lineup largely resembles that of Cyclops' Blue Team, established in the early issues of the second X-Men comic series.

The series' first 13 episodes were notable for being possibly the first time ever that an American animated series had a full season of episodes flow one into the next, creating a single continuing narrative, something the series producers fought heavily for. However, starting with season three, most episodes (except for multi-part stories) were shown in random order.

Each episode was assigned two different numbers internally. One is for Script Order, which indicates the number assigned by the production company. The other is for Production Order, which are the official episode numbers assigned by Fox Children's Network, indicating the order in which they received the episodes. These both vary from the order in which the series actually aired after season three. According to series writer Steven Melching, the Script Order is the "best guide in terms of overall series continuity, as this is how the stories were originally envisioned to flow together."

    Red Dawn (2012 film)

Red Dawn is a 2012 American war film directed by Dan Bradley. The screenplay by Carl Ellsworth and Jeremy Passmore is based on the 1984 film of the same name. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Josh Peck, Josh Hutcherson, Adrianne Palicki, Isabel Lucas, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. The film centers on a group of young people who defend their hometown from a North Korean invasion.

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer announced its intention to remake Red Dawn in May 2008 and subsequently hired Bradley and Ellsworth. The principal characters were cast the following year and the film went into production in September 2009 in Mount Clemens, Michigan. Originally scheduled to be released on November 24, 2010, the film was shelved due to MGM's financial troubles. While in post-production, the invading army and antagonists was changed from Chinese to North Korean including Chinese symbols to North Korean in order to maintain access to China's box office. FilmDistrict bought the U.S. distribution rights in September 2011 and the film was released in the United States on November 23, 2012.

    [Chorus]
If it's on then it's on
    From dusk to red dawn
    If it's then it's on
    [Rob]
    I seen them come
    I seen them gone
Seen the weak defeat the strong
Seen the ones that finished quick
To the ones that lasted long
I'll pass the bottle and the bong for those
    Who understand this song
    Forgive me when I'm wrong
And don't forget me when I'm gone
But if it's on then it's on from dusk till red dawn
    Murder in my mind
    Pistols in my palm
    I've been through the storms
    I appreciate the dawn
Well if it's on then it's on motherfuckers come on
    [Chorus]
    [Rob]
Got my back against the wall
Feel the steel on my spine
    Makin one false move
    I'm goin for mine
Out of sight, out of mind
    Duck in their one time
    In a 7-7 ??? California sunshine
    Nothing quite like it
This is the city of crime
    Avoiding the feds
    ??? hard time
Your whole world will change when you're droppin a dime
And while you rats get fat I'll be aimin for swine
    [Tim]
You picked the wrong man to fuck with
    I wish you luck with
It's your knife in my back
    I been stuck with
    You better duck this
    When I swing this
    I'm gonna bring this
Fuck you up and swing this
    Listen up man
I'll lay you down in a tomb
6 feet deep in a two foot room
And if you think your safe
We'll be coming for you soon
Transplants is on with the 808 boom
    [Chorus]
    [Rob]
Take a swig and pass it back
    As I swerve
25 in the fast lane puffin the sack
T-Dog and ??? we kick it and laugh
    Ain't a damn thing changed
    Still roll with the pack
    I love my bad habits
    More deadly than crack
    I burn on this ???
    Try to relax
But we don't know how to act
So fuckin you get the smack
Ain't nothing shitty bout my city
    Or the pity it lacks
    [Chorus]
