The Next Star

The Next Star is a Canadian reality television show on YTV hosted by Adamo Ruggiero (seasons 1-5) and Carlos Bustamante. (season 6). The show is a competition to find the most talented singer in Canada who is aged 15 years or younger to win and become "the next star". Winning contestants are Dunnery Bond (Season 1), Sabrina Duda (Season 2) Diego Gomes (Season 3), Melissa "Charlie" Storwick (Season 4), Brooklyn Roebuck (Season 5), Alicia Moffet (Season 6) and Jory Zechner (Season 7).

In addition to host Adamo Ruggiero (2008–2012), the judges for the first 4 seasons (2008-2011) included Suzie McNeil, Steve Cranwell, and Christopher Ward. The current judges (2012–present) are Keshia Chante, Mark Spicoluk, and Tara Oram. Season 5 aired on YTV from July 16 to September 23, 2012. The stylists and coaches (2008–present) are Jasmine Denham-Baird (Vocal Coach), Michael Riccio (Dance and Choreography), Peter Papapetrou (Clothes and Wardrobe), and Dee Daly (Hair and Makeup Stylist).

HaKokhav HaBa

HaKokhav HaBa (Hebrew: הַכּוֹכָב הַבָּא, translated as "The Next Star") is an Israeli interactive reality singing competition, which was first broadcast on Channel 2 from September 17, 2013. It is based on the "Rising Star" franchise created by Keshet Broadcasting. The show is a continuation of the former program Kokhav Nolad (meaning "A Star is Born") which featured aspiring singers competing for a winning title. The program's format combines the internet, smartphones and television and is filmed live. Since season 2, the winner of each season gets to represent Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest.

Format

As the season begins, each contestant is asked to perform a well-known song in front of judges. After the song a vote is taken among judges whether to transfer the applicant to the test stage facing the audience at home. If the judges are not sure about how to vote, the contestant is required to perform another song, and then a decision is made.

Contestant who do move forward must then sing in front of an audience. Viewers then connect with an app at makoTV and decide in real time whether a contestant passes or does not pass.
