Turn on the Bright Lights

Turn On the Bright Lights is the debut studio album by the American rock band Interpol, released in August 2002. The album was recorded in November 2001 at Tarquin Studios in Connecticut, and was co-produced, mixed and engineered by Peter Katis and Gareth Jones. It was released on August 19, 2002 in the United Kingdom and August 20 in the United States, through independent record label Matador Records. Upon release, the record peaked at number 101 on the UK Albums Chart. It reached number 158 on the Billboard 200 in the United States, as well as spending 73 weeks in the Billboard Independent Albums, peaking at number five.

"PDA", "NYC", "Obstacle 1" and "Say Hello to the Angels" were the singles from Turn On the Bright Lights, and a video was shot for each with the exception of "Say Hello to the Angels".

The album was certified Gold by the RIAA on August 29, 2011 for shipments of 500,000 copies.

A remastered version of the album was released in 2012 to commemorate its tenth anniversary. It featured additional material including demo recordings of several tracks, the bonus songs previously available on international releases and a DVD of live performances and music videos.

The New 52

The New 52 is a 2011 revamp and relaunch by DC Comics of its entire line of ongoing monthly superhero comic books. Following the conclusion of the "Flashpoint" crossover storyline, DC cancelled all of its existing titles and debuted 52 new series in September 2011 with new first issues. Among the series being renumbered are Action Comics and Detective Comics, which had retained their original numbering since the 1930s.

The relaunch included changes to the publishing format; for example, print and digital comics are now released on the same day. New titles were released to bring the number of ongoing monthly series to fifty-two. Various changes were also made to DC's fictional universe to entice new readers, including to DC's internal continuity to make characters more modern and accessible. As well, characters from the former Wildstorm and Vertigo imprint were absorbed into the DC Universe.

The New 52 branding ended after the completion of the "Convergence" storyline in May 2015, although the continuity of the New 52 continued. In June 2015, 24 new titles were launched, alongside 25 returning titles, with several of those receiving new creative teams.

New Day (novel)

New Day is a 1949 book by Jamaican author V. S. Reid. It was Reid's first novel. New Day deals with the political history of Jamaica as told by a character named Campbell, who is a boy at the time of the Morant Bay Rebellion (in 1865) and an old man during its final chapters. It may have been the first novel to use Jamaican vernacular as its language of narration.

Reid employed the Jamaican dialect as a springboard for creating a distinctive literary variant and for achieving a greater depth in the English language. Reid was motivated to write New Day by his discontentment with how the leaders George William Gordon and Paul Bogle of the Morant Bay Rebellion (1865) were depicted in the foreign press; by reworking as characters in his novel those who had been negatively portrayed as rebels, he aimed to refute what he viewed as unfair misrepresentations of history. The Morant Bay uprising also provided the historical backdrop for a number of works written by Reid's literary counterparts, most notably fellow Jamaican writer Roger Mais. Mais's play George William Gordon also functioned to repair the historical figure Gordon, who had been portrayed as a villain in prevailing narratives of colonialism, as a martyr and hero for Jamaican nationalism.

New Day (Wyclef Jean song)

"New Day" is a charity single released by Wyclef Jean and Bono, in aid of charity NetAid. The song appears on the international version of Jean's second album, The Ecleftic: 2 Sides II a Book. Wyclef and Bono performed the song live at Giants Stadium, New Jersey, at the NetAid launch concert on October 9, 1999. New Day entered the UK Singles Chart at #23, its highest chart position, and spent just two weeks on the chart. The song also charted in Finland (#13) and Switzerland (#48). The remix of the track features contributions from Bumpy Knuckles, Marie Antoinette, DJ Red Alert, Reptile and Small World. The song was featured on the soundtrack to the 1999 Universal Pictures film, Life, starring Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence.

The New Day

The New Day is a professional wrestling stable performing in the WWE, composed of Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods. The trio are the current WWE Tag Team Champions, in their second reign. During their reigns, The New Day defends the titles under the Freebird Rule, with all three members being recognized as champions.

The stable originally debuted in a July 2014 episode of Raw, but made their official television debut as The New Day in November 2014. They won their first WWE Tag Team Championship in 2015 at Extreme Rules, with Big E and Kingston gaining the victory. They became two-time tag team champions by winning the titles again later that year at SummerSlam.

The early months of the stable were marked by overwhelming negative reactions to their personas from fans and critics alike, however after turning heel in April 2015 they began to receive acclaim for being entertaining, as well as for their in-ring performances. In 2015, the trio were collectively named "WWE Wrestler of the Year" by Rolling Stone, while also becoming the first trio to win the Pro Wrestling Illustrated award for Tag Team of the Year and being recognized as the Best Gimmick of the year by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
