The Mistake may refer to:
The Mistake is a 1913 American silent drama film directed by D. W. Griffith.
The Mistake is a hardcore band from Orange County, California, USA. Formed in 2000, by Javier Van Huss and Erick Pressman, they were originally called Hara Kiri, but changed their name to The Mistake after only a few shows. In 2001, they released a S/T demo. In 2003, after a number of member changes, they released a 7" / CD ep titled "Fuck Everything Up" . In 2005, after some more lineup changes, they released a split 7" with Carry The Casket. All 3 records were released on Prime Directive Records. They were set to record an LP for Indecision Records, but things fell apart before that could happen. The band unofficially broke up around 2005/06. Van Huss started Neon Claws with members of Carry The Casket. After an on again off again type of status, The Mistake is back playing shows and putting out music. Another album is planned for 2016.

Dear one
What have you done
Those waxen wings melt in the sun
Where have you gone
What are you running from
You gave it away
You slept through the day
Sometimes we all break down
When thre; s no friends around
You see yourself
In photographs of winters past
Remembering the days
In your hometown
Dreams, impossible dreams
Those moving pictures
From scripts that are scriptures
To those who believe
In those magazines
You think they would know
You reap what you sow
Some days we all are blessed
We sing the world to rest
Until the moon shines through
The broken window pane
