Sigh (film)

Sigh is a 2000 Chinese drama film directed by Feng Xiaogang, written by Wang Shuo, starring Zhang Guoli, Liu Bei, Xu Fan and Fu Biao. Like most of Feng's films, the film is set mostly in Beijing.

Plot

Liang Yazhou (Zhang) is a successful, middle-aged TV screenwriter from Beijing. While in Hainan working on a new script, Liu Dawei (Fu) assigns young and beautiful Li Xiaodan (Liu) to him as an assistant. Yazhou and Xiaodan are mutually attracted to each other, but Yazhou is already married to Song Xiaoying (Xu), with whom he has a daughter. To break off the connection, he changes his plans and returns to Beijing. However, as soon as Yazhou and Xiaoying return to Beijing, they begin having an affair.

When Xiaoying finds out about Yazhou's affair, she is furious and initially demands a divorce. Relations between Yazhou and Xiaoying become extremely strained. They separate, and Xiaoying eventually accepts Yazhou's affair for the sake of their young daughter Yueyue. Despite Xiaoying's tolerance, Yazhou remains caught between the two women, on one hand being spoiled by Xiaodan and, on the other, being an attentive father in front of Xiaoying and Yueyue. Even with Xiaodan demanding marriage, Yazhou finds himself unable to divorce his wife, due to the harmful impact their separation has already had on Yueyue.

Memory

In psychology, memory is the process in which information is encoded, stored, and retrieved. Encoding allows information from the outside world to be sensed in the form of chemical and physical stimuli. In the first stage the information must be changed so that it may be put into the encoding process. Storage is the second memory stage or process. This entails that information is maintained over short periods of time. Finally the third process is the retrieval of information that has been stored. Such information must be located and returned to the consciousness. Some retrieval attempts may be effortless due to the type of information, and other attempts to remember stored information may be more demanding for various reasons.

Memories (1995 film)

Memories (also Otomo Katsuhiro's Memories) is a 1995 Japanese animated science fiction anthology film with Katsuhiro Otomo as executive producer, and based on three of his manga short stories. The film is composed of three shorts: "Magnetic Rose" (彼女の想いで, Kanojo no Omoide), directed by Studio 4°C co-founder Kōji Morimoto and written by Satoshi Kon; "Stink Bomb" (最臭兵器, Saishū-heiki), directed by Tensai Okamura of Darker than Black fame and also written by Kon, and "Cannon Fodder" (大砲の街, Taihō no Machi), written and directed by Otomo himself.

Plot

Magnetic Rose

The Corona, a deep space salvage freighter, is out on a mission when it encounters a distress signal and responds to it. They come upon a spaceship graveyard orbiting a giant space station. The crew's two engineers, Heintz and Miguel, enter it to get a closer look.

Once inside, they discover an opulent European interior and several furnished rooms (in varying states of decay), but find no signs of life. They discover that the station belongs to a once famous opera diva named Eva Friedel who disappeared after the murder of her fiancé, Carlo Rambaldi, a fellow singer. Continuing the search for the source of the signal, the engineers split up, with each experiencing paranormal encounters, including strange noises and visions of Eva. Miguel enters the dilapidated underbelly of the station, and in a cavernous chamber he finds a broken piano playing the distress signal. He begins to hallucinate and Eva suddenly runs up to kiss him.

Circle Series

The Circle Series, formerly known as the Circle Trilogy until the novel Green was released in September 2009, is a set of spiritually inspired novels by Ted Dekker, written mostly in 2004, about a man named Thomas Hunter who, after a head injury, wakes up in an alternate reality every time he goes to sleep. The stakes are raised when he realizes that a deadly virus is about to be unleashed on our world, and that the other earth is also being threatened with catastrophe. The pace quickens as links and parallels between the two worlds are revealed, and the clock begins to run down for both worlds.

The Circle Series takes place in the same universe as several other Dekker novels, and makes several references to them. These other novels include the Paradise Novels, the Lost Books, Skin, House, and Immanuel's Veins.

Subtitle changing for Green

Originally, Green was called "The Beginning and the End," and was meant to be both the first and the last book of the series, causing an infinite loop in the timeline. Many fans were confused and spoke out about this, so Dekker wrote a new ending to Green called "The Last Stand" which brought a level of closure to the series. It can be found in the 4-in-1 collector's edition, The Circle.

Sinner (Drowning Pool album)

Sinner is the debut studio album by the heavy metal band Drowning Pool. The album is the band's most popular album, being certified platinum in the same year that it was released in. This was due at least in part to "Bodies" which remains the band's most well-known song. This is the only studio album by the band to feature original lead singer Dave Williams. While touring in support of Sinner, he died on August 14, 2002 from cardiomyopathy. The album debuted at #14 on the Billboard 200 chart. Drowning Pool released a reissue of the album called the "Unlucky 13th Anniversary Edition" in 2014. The album was put at no. 25 on Metal Descent's list "The 25 Best Alternative Metal Albums".

Sinner (Drowning Pool song)

"Sinner" is a song by the rock band Drowning Pool and is from their debut album Sinner. Serving as the first track on the album, the song also was released as the third single from the album.

The track served as the theme song of the film The One, starring Jet Li.

This was also the theme song of WWE Vengeance 2001.

Music video

The "Sinner" music video was filmed in October 2001 and was directed by Gregory Dark. It was shot in and around an abandoned Los Angeles motel called the Pink Lady, was inspired by the David Fincher film Seven. The video features the band playing in a swimming pool during heavy rain. Footage includes a dominatrix and pit bulls, a woman who lies in a tanning bed until her skin becomes leathery, and an obese man sitting in a recliner in front of a TV set. The man continuously gorges on food until finally his belly explodes, his innards splattering all over the room.

Regarding the making of music video, Dave Williams said "They rained on us for four hours straight and it was cold, man. We had to play in the mud. And we didn't sleep for, like, two days because we shot the thing from six at night until eight in the morning. We all got sick, but it was cool." and "There are these scenes with a dominatrix and pit bulls and there are these fat guys exploding and a chick that's been laying in a tanning bed for too long and her skin turns to leather. When we were done shooting, the only things left standing were the prostitutes coming in and out of the motel."
