Goon is a 2011 sports comedy film directed by Michael Dowse, written by Jay Baruchel and Evan Goldberg, and starring Seann William Scott, Jay Baruchel, Liev Schreiber, Alison Pill, Marc-André Grondin, Kim Coates, and Eugene Levy. The main plot depicts an exceedingly nice but somewhat dimwitted man who becomes the enforcer for a minor league ice hockey team.

A sequel is in development. In 2015 Jay Baruchel was announced as director for Goon: Last of the Enforcers.

Plot

Doug Glatt (Seann William Scott), a bouncer at a bar in Massachusetts, feels ostracized from society, especially since his father and brother are both successful physicians. Doug attends a minor league hockey game with his best friend Pat (Jay Baruchel). Pat taunts the visiting team during a fight and one of their players climbs into the stands, calling him a homosexual slur. Doug, whose brother is gay, steps in and easily beats up the opposing player. Soon after, Doug gets a phone call from the coach of his hometown team who offers him a job as an enforcer.

Goon is the debut studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Tobias Jesso Jr. released on March 17, 2015 in the United States and Canada. The album was preceded by the two singles "How Could You Babe" and "Hollywood".

The album was a short-listed nominee for the 2015 Polaris Music Prize.

Musical style

Jesso's music has been compared to singer/songwriters of the 1960s and 1970s from Randy Newman to Harry Nilsson and Emitt Rhodes. Even though he was a bassist and guitarist for years, his new music was written by him on the piano—an instrument he started playing at the age of 27.

Reception

Goon received universal acclaim from contemporary music critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 81, based on 25 reviews, which indicates "universal acclaim".

Will Hermes of Rolling Stone noted "his debut LP gathers 12 beautifully lean ballads sung in a vulnerable tenor, with vintage studio touches blended by sharp producers including JR White, Patrick Carney and Ariel Rechtshaid."

Catalepsy is an American deathcore band formed in 2004. To date they have had three releases - one EP, Godless, and two studio albums, Iniquity and Bleed.

History

Catalepsy was founded in 2004. Originally formed as a thrash/metalcore three-piece. Went on hiatus from May 2006 to August 2006; Catalepsy came back with more of a deathcore sound. Catalepsy entered the studio in September and recorded two demo songs. In 2008, the band finished a tour with Hatebreed for their Live Dominance DVD release. They completed their first studio album, Iniquity, in January 2008. The album was released on May 13, 2008. In early 2008, the band recorded a music video for their song "Trust". It premiered on MTV's Headbangers Ball. In late 2008, Drew Carothers left the band due to personal issues. He was replaced with Josh Anderson of the Florida band Iamdivide. The band continued to tour, with such bands as After the Burial, Oceano, Too Pure to Die, Waking the Cadaver, Rose Funeral and many others.

Bleed (Soulfly song)

"Bleed" is the third single by metal band Soulfly, released in 1998 from the self-titled album Soulfly. Limp Bizkit guest members Fred Durst and DJ Lethal sing this song about pain, lying and madness with lyrics written by Durst and Max Cavalera. This song tributes Cavalera for the untimely death of his stepson Dana.

"Bleed" has the first music video released by Soulfly. Scenes include a fight including strangling, guest singer Durst jumped, and driving with shattered windshield on the driver side of a car.
