Catherine Lisa Bell (born August 14, 1968) is an American actress and producer known for her roles as Lieutenant Colonel Sarah MacKenzie of the television series JAG from 1997 to 2005, Denise Sherwood of the series Army Wives from 2007 to 2013, and Cassandra "Cassie" Nightingale of Hallmark's The Good Witch film and television series (2008–2015).

Early life

Catherine Bell was born in London, and after her parents' divorce at age 2 she moved with her mother shortly to Iran and then to United States at age 3.

Career

One of Bell's first modeling jobs was a four-month assignment in Japan. When she returned to California, she studied acting at the Beverly Hills Playhouse with Milton Katselas. She also worked as a massage therapist, and her clients included singer Peter Gabriel. Her first television acting role was one line spoken to Gabriel on the short-lived 1990 sitcom Sugar and Spice.

Bell served as Isabella Rossellini's body double for the 1992 film Death Becomes Her where she "showed her butt only".

Catherine J. Bell

Catherine J. Bell (born October 25, 1954, Comox, British Columbia) is a Canadian trade unionist and politician. She was elected as the New Democratic Party's candidate in the 2006 federal election in the riding of Vancouver Island North, serving for one term. While in Parliament, she served as the NDP's critic for natural resources.

Bell lives with her husband, Roger Kishi, in Cumberland, British Columbia. She previously served as vice-president of the B.C. Government and Service Employees Union. She is a member of the Social Planning and Research Council of B.C. and she has served on the social justice committee of the B.C. Federation of Labour. She is also a member and volunteer with the World Community Development Education Society, Co-Development Canada, the Comox Valley Coalition to Save Social Programs and the Comox Valley Women to Women Global Strategies.

Bell has continued with electoral reform work in parliament championed by Ed Broadbent in the 38th Canadian Parliament through a defeated bill and petition.

Chris Potter (actor)

Christopher Jay "Chris" Potter (born August 23, 1960) is a Canadian actor, musician, and pitchman. He is primarily known for his roles on soap operas and prime-time television. Potter is known for his roles as Peter Caine on the 1990s crime drama Kung Fu: The Legend Continues, Dr. David Cameron on the first season of Queer as Folk, as the voice of Gambit in the animated X-Men series, and for his recurring role as con-artist Evan Owen on The Young and the Restless. Currently he plays Tim Fleming on the drama Heartland.

Biography

The oldest of three children, Potter was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to Ron Potter, an ex- pro-football player and insurance salesman, and Judith Potter, a singer. Potter was raised in London, Ontario, Canada. He had an early interest in sports such as hockey, baseball, and football, as well as in community theater.

Successful in sports throughout his high school years (attended Oakridge Secondary School in London, Ontario), Chris wanted a professional career as an athlete; however, his father would not permit it. He later quit college to start a career as a rock musician. He discovered a love for the theater and became a professional stage actor. He also worked on an oil rig in Northern Canada, sold cars, and later became an insurance salesman. He left the insurance company to start his career on TV, as an actor and a pitchman.

Peter MacNeill

Peter MacNeill is a Canadian film and television actor who has starred in several TV shows and films.

His film credits have included The Hanging Garden (for which MacNeill won a Genie Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1997), Geraldine's Fortune, Giant Mine, Lives of Girls and Women, The Events Leading Up to My Death, Dog Park, Something Beneath and A History of Violence.

On television, he has had roles in Queer as Folk (as Detective Carl Horvath), Katts and Dog (as Sgt. Callahan), Traders (as Frank Larkin), Star Wars: Droids (as Jord Dusat), The Eleventh Hour (as Warren Donohue), PSI Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal (as Ray Donahue) and Call Me Fitz (as Ken Fitzpatrick).

Allan Royal

Allan Royal (born August 17, 1944) is a Montreal-born actor, who is also sometimes credited as Allan G. Royal and Alan Royal. He is known for playing the crime reporter Tom Kirkwood on the hit Canadian police drama Night Heat from 1985–1989. He is also known for his recurring role on such programs as the American TV drama Falcon Crest as well as roles in numerous other TV shows, movies, and plays.

Early career

Royal grew up in a bilingual home: his father was a French Canadian and his mother was of British ancestry. He grew up in Montreal's West End, where from the time he was a boy, he wanted to be in show business. He began performing while still in high school, and ultimately left Montreal to study acting in New York with Lee Strasberg. He returned to Canada, performing on stage in Toronto beginning in the mid-1960s. He joined the Toronto Arts Production theater company, where he played a wide range of roles throughout the 1970s, in new plays as well as productions of Shakespeare and Moliere.

The Good Witch

The Good Witch is a television film that aired on the Hallmark Channel on January 19, 2008. It starred Catherine Bell as Cassandra Nightingale and Chris Potter as Chief of Police Jake Russell. The film has spawned six sequels and a television series.

Plot

A mysterious, darkly beautiful woman named Cassandra Nightingale moves into an old, abandoned house which is reputed to be haunted by its original owner, "The Grey Lady". The small community is divided in their opinion of her: Some want her to stay (especially widowed police chief Jake Russell and his two children), while others want her to leave. Through the course of the story, seemingly magical things happen, and the community attributes these occurrences to her. Everyone begins to wonder if she is really a witch.
