The Flowers of Hell are a trans-Atlantic experimental orchestra made up of a revolving line-up of 16 or so independent musicians based in Toronto and London. Their largely instrumental sound builds bridges between classical music and post rock, shoegaze, space rock, and drone music, often resulting in their being described as an orchestral extension of the work of The Velvet Underground and Spacemen 3.
Led by synesthete composer Greg Jarvis, much of their repertoire is an exploration of the timbre-to-shape synesthesia that causes Jarvis to involuntarily perceive all sounds as floating abstract visual forms.
The group's music has been championed by Lou Reed,Kevin Shields (My Bloody Valentine),Peter Kember (Sonic Boom of Spacemen 3) and numerous others. They have had positive coverage from media including Rolling Stone,NME,Pitchfork, and BBC Radio.
The Flowers of Hell moniker comes from an old blues concept of transformation whereby the misery and toil of the musician results in the pleasure of the listener. The name was first used by the group’s founder Greg Jarvis on tracks included on various UK covermount CDs in 2002 and 2003, of which just under two million units were distributed. Jarvis expanded the project into a London based live act in 2005 with the founding six piece line up consisting of himself as the principal guitarist, Guri Hummelsund on drums, Abi Fry on viola (later of British Sea Power and Bat For Lashes), Owen James on trumpet, Ruth Barlow as the accompanying guitarist, and Steve Head on Hammond organ. During 2006 and 2007 the group underwent numerous small line up changes.

The Flowers, (simplified Chinese: 花儿乐队; traditional Chinese: 花兒樂隊; pinyin: Huār Yuèduì), were a Chinese rock band formed in Beijing in 1998. The band consisted of Dà Zhāng Wěi (lead vocals, guitar) (大张伟), Shí Xǐngyŭ (guitar) (石醒宇), Guō Yáng (bass guitar) (郭阳), and Wáng Wénbó (drums, percussion) (王文博). The Flowers recorded and released six studio albums before splitting up in 2009.
Zhang Wei, Guo Yang and Wang Wenbo met while attending high school. During their early career, they played music in the style of pop punk that was reminiscent of American pop punk bands such as Green Day and Blink-182 who were the group's influences. The band first began playing in local bars and smoky clubs around Beijing. Unable to hide their hunger for commercial success, the band became somewhat aloof from the scene and often derided in some quarters for their attitudes. The trio first signed on to a small Beijing-based Chinese independent label, New Bees Music in 1998. A year later, the band released their debut studio album, On the Other Side of Happiness. The album turned out to be a surprise hit as the accessible nature of songs like "Stillness", "Disillusion" and "School's Out" from the album made the band perfect for the music market they had wished to conquer. The band became somewhat credited for helping to give disaffected Chinese youths a resonant voice, as many of them were deeply affected by their songs and felt that the band's lyrics reflected their own life experiences. As a result, punk music in general became more widely known in China.
The Flowers were a post-punk band from Scotland.
Flowers formed in 1978, and were part of the Edinburgh scene which spawned bands such as Scars, Josef K and The Fire Engines. Early line-ups featured members of local disruptors Dirty Reds: Russell Burn (later of The Fire Engines and Win) and Dave Carson (Boots for Dancing). After bassist Graham Proctor departed, Flowers settled in early 1979 to the line-up which toured and recorded for the next year:
Picking up their instruments as a result of the 1976 punk explosion in New York and the UK, Flowers attempted to fuse a punk sensibility with a love of funk and melodic pop to create a new sound. Flowers contributed two tracks ("After Dark" and "Criminal Waste") to the first Earcom compilation released by Fast Product, and recorded two singles for the Pop Aural label. "After Dark" and "Confessions" both featured on an American compilation album of Fast Product output, Mutant Pop 78/79 which also featured Human League, Scars, Gang of Four, 2.3 and The Mekons. Flowers also recorded a session for John Peel, broadcast on Radio 1 in September 1979 which featured "Living Doll", "Deep End Dance", "Tunnels" and "Tear Along".
Now it's just a memory,
And it's hard to think(hard to think about it)
Bout the love I left behind
I can't help but think(what could I have done about it)
But deep inside I know it's your fault that I'm not there
Once you put aside your pride, I know that you saw it so clearly
That your nearly losing your mind
Tryna rewind
Do what you did and didn't do
So I'm telling you...
You should have did so much more to show you loved me
I'm wishing
I wish you would have gave me The Flowers(when I could smell them)
And I'm wishing
I wish you would have held me for hours(when I was around)
Now there's nothing you can do...
But to wish I was with you...
But it's too little too late, to late to late
Press rewind(to go back in time)
So there's nothing you can do...
Cause I'm no longer missing you...
You should have gave me The Flowers(when I could smell them)
Cause now I'm gone
And baby it's so hard to believe ya when you say that you promise your be better
Cause everything your saying right now, you can saying forever
You should of showed you loved me, You should have spent more time
You should have been the answers to the questions in my mind
But your here ain't going no where you'll never let me go
(you'll never let me go)
Cause baby, I could'ntfeel your love was real, you took for granted what we had
So I'm telling you...
You should of did so much more to show you loved me
And it hurts so much inside for me to let you go(let you go yea)
But it hurts me so much more to stay with you and I know that
You can explain how much you changed
But it remains the same
It's just to late for us... (it's just to late for us)
There's no way to get back
All the love that we had...
But I still can't help but wish that...
I'm wishing
I wish you would have gave me The Flowers(when I could smell them)
And I'm wishing
I wish you would have held me for hours(when I was around)
Now there's nothing you can do(and there's nothing you can do about it)
But to wish I was with you (but to think about it)
But it's too little too late, to late to late
Press rewind(to go back in time)
So there's nothing you can do... (No)
Cause I'm no longer missing you...
You should have gave me The Flowers(when I could smell them)
(Hey Hey Hey Hey)
I'm wishing
I wish you would have gave me The Flowers(when I could smell them)
And I'm wishing
I wish you would have held me for hours(when I was around)
Now there's nothing you can do... (Nothing You Can Do)
But to wish I was with you... (But To Wish I Was With You)
But it's too little too late, to late to late
Press rewind(to go back in time) (Said It's To Late)
So there's nothing you can do...
Cause I'm no longer missing you...
You should have gave me The Flowers(when I could smell them)
