The Fixx

The Fixx are a rock and new wave band formed in London in 1979. The band's hits include "One Thing Leads to Another", "Saved by Zero", "Are We Ourselves?", and "Secret Separation", all of which made the U.S. Top 20, as well as early MTV Video hits "Red Skies" and "Stand Or Fall" and Mainstream Rock chart hits "Driven Out" and "Deeper and Deeper," the latter of which was featured on the soundtrack of the 1984 film Streets of Fire.

Early years as Portraits and The Fix (1979-1981)

College friends Cy Curnin on vocals and Adam Woods on drums formed the group in London in 1979, initially calling themselves Portraits. The pair placed an ad for additional members, and recruited keyboardist Rupert Greenall, guitarist Tony McGrail and bassist Russell Mckenzie later to be replaced by Charlie Barrett. Portraits issued two singles for Ariola Records: "Little Women" (1979), and "Hazards In The Home" (1980).

Later in 1980, McGrail left. At this point, the band added guitarist Jamie West-Oram (formerly of Phillip Rambow's band) and changed their name to The Fix. This version of the band recorded for 101 Records, releasing their first single ("Lost Planes") in February 1981. This track, along with several live tracks issued by 101 on various compilations, received some radio exposure on the BBC. In these early days West-Oram was billed simply as "Jamie West".

The Flow

The Flow is an album by Chris Leslie released in 1997.

This album is mostly instrumental. Although Chris Leslie is best known for his fiddle playing in Fairport Convention, these cuts sound nothing like Fairport or any of his other prior musical projects. The album demonstrates Leslie's breadth of musicality, influence and inspiration from across the globe.

Tracks 2 and 6 produced by Simon Mayor. Other tracks produced by Tim Healey.

Recorded by Mark Tucker.

    Secret Separation

    SECRET SEPARATION
    The Fixx
    (Cy Curnin)
    We are passengers in time
    Lost in motion, locked together
Day and night by trick of light
But I must take another journey
We must meet with other names
You touched my heart so deeply
You rescued me now free me
Don't watch me cry just see me go
I'll take away the strongest feelings
    You will ever know
There will be no more isolation in our secret separation
You touched my heart so deeply you rescued me
    Now free me
    We are passengers in time
    Lost in motion, locked together
Day and night, by trick of light
But I must take another journey
We must meet with other names
If you hold me you will hurt me
    Be brave
There will be no more isolation in our secret separation
You touched my heart so deeply you rescued me
    Now free me
We are matching spark and flame
    Caught in endless repetition
Life for life we'll be the same
I must leave before you burn me
I am the stranger who deserts you only to love you
    In another life
There will be no more isolation in our secret separation
You touched my heart so deeply, you rescued me
Now free me I'll bear one precious scar that only you will know
