The Fab Five (film)

The Fab Five is a 2011 ESPN Films documentary about the 1990s Michigan Wolverines men's basketball players known collectively as the Fab Five: Chris Webber, Jalen Rose, Juwan Howard, Jimmy King, and Ray Jackson. It chronicles the recruitment, glory years, notorious time-out fiasco, cultural impact and the scandal that followed these players who are described as iconic figures in the media. The film originally aired on March 13, 2011 on a national broadcast on ESPN. On its original airing, the film drew 2.7 million viewers, setting a record as the highest-rated ESPN documentary ever.

The film spawned critical commentary in a broad spectrum of media outlets which include leading newspapers such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post; leading periodicals such as Forbes; online forums such as Slate; and leading news outlets such as MSNBC. In particular, the film sparked a verbal war between Jalen Rose and Duke University's Grant Hill through the media regarding issues of race in sports and education that fueled the Duke–Michigan basketball rivalry. Coincidentally, the following week, the 2011 editions of Michigan and Duke met in the third round of the 2011 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament; Duke won, 73-71.

Fab five (Ateneo)

The Ateneo de Manila University collegiate women's varsity volleyball team has been recruiting groups of five players from time to time over the years. The 2008 batch is referred to as the Fabulous Five or Fab 5 by the Ateneo community and fans. The 2010 and 2013 batches were all members of the Ateneo team that made history by winning Ateneo's first volleyball championship in the UAAP women's volleyball senior division in season 76 (2013–14).

In the UAAP Season 77 (2014–15), the Lady Eagles won their second straight title by sweeping all the games for a perfect season (16 wins – 0 losses).

Fille Saint Merced Cainglet

Fille Cainglet plays the position of Open Hitter in volleyball. While playing in the UAAP, a collegiate varsity league she was voted as one of most improved volleyball player in the tournament. Her elevation and her aggressiveness attracted so many fans. Her amazing spikes and digs helped her team, the Ateneo Lady Blue Eagles reach the Finals of UAAP Season 74 (2011) and UAAP Season 75 (2012). She is currently playing for Petron Blaze Spikers, a semi-pro volleyball club team in the Philippines.

Fab Five (University of Michigan)

The Fab Five was the nickname for the 1991 University of Michigan men's basketball team recruiting class that is considered by many to be "the greatest class ever recruited." The class consisted of Detroit natives Chris Webber (#1) and Jalen Rose (#6), Chicago native Juwan Howard (#3), and two recruits from Texas, Plano's Jimmy King (#9) and Austin's Ray Jackson (#84). Four of the five were participants in the 1991 McDonald's All-American Game. At first, only three of the freshmen started for the 1991–92 Michigan Wolverines men's basketball team. Although they all played when the season opened on December 2, 1991 against the University of Detroit, they did not all play at the same time until December 7 against Eastern Michigan and did not start regularly until February 9, 1992. In that first game starting together as a regular unit, the five freshmen scored all the team's points against Notre Dame. They started as a unit in all but one of the remaining games for the season. They reached the 1992 and 1993 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship games as both freshmen and sophomores. However, most of their wins and both of their Final Four appearances were vacated due to Webber (and others) accepting money from Ed Martin, compromising their amateur status.
