Tabas is located in central Iran, 950 kilometers southeast of Tehran, in Yazd Province. Formerly it was part of the Khorasan province. It is a desert city with lots of date and citrus trees. It has a public garden, (Baghe-golshan), 300 years old, that has beautiful water fountains. It has a railroad station, airport and two universities. The city has hot summers and people rarely see a winter snowfall. It was near Tabas that the United States rescue operation called Operation Eagle Claw failed, because of mechanical breakdowns to the aircraft involved.

Tabas was also stricken by a destructive earthquake on September 16, 1978 that left around 22000 dead. The earthquake was measured between 7.5 and 7.9 on the Richter scale. Since then, the city has been rebuilt with many new streets, parks and public buildings.

Tabasco ( taˈβasko ), officially Free and Sovereign State of Tabasco (Spanish: Estado Libre y Soberano de Tabasco), is one of the 31 states which, with the Federal District, comprise the 32 Federal Entities of Mexico. It is divided in 17 municipalities and its capital city is Villahermosa. It is located in the southeast of the country bordering the states of Campeche to the northeast, Veracruz to the west and Chiapas to the south, and the Petén department of Guatemala to the southeast. It has a coastline to the north with the Gulf of Mexico. Most of the state is covered in rainforest as, unlike most other areas of Mexico, it has plentiful rainfall year round. For this reason, it is also covered in small lakes, wetlands and rivers. The state is subject to major flooding events, with the last occurring in 2007, which affected eighty percent of the state. The state is also home to La Venta, the major site of the Olmec civilization, considered to be the origin of later Mesoamerican cultures. Even though it produces significant quantities of petroleum and natural gas, poverty is still a concern.

    Tabasco (former state)

Tabasco or Tavasco was a Chontal Maya Nation in the western most area of the Maya region.

    History

    Separation

Sometime, probably during the 12th century the Chontal Maya in the westernmost part of The League of Mayapan separated from the rest of the league. They did this because they objected to an alliance with Mayapan,(the city not the league). They adopted the same governmental system that existed when they were attached to the league and Mayapan. That is, with the three existing classes. Nobility and priesthood, tax and slaves.

It was in the west of their new country on the river Tabasco where they founded their capital city. Its name was Potonchán which means smelly place, there were 25,000 homes there. Having their main city on a wide river near the ocean allowed them to have an extensive sea trade network.

    Acalan

At some point the eastern part of Tabasco became independent. The new countries name was Acalan which had its capitol at Itzamkanac. Acalan had constant disputes with Tabasco. Also Itzamkanac was inland and Acalan had a much smaller sea trade industry.

    The Eyes

    by: DIO

    The Eyes
Oh no - they're at it again
    Looking inside my secrets
Coming through cracks before I mend the wall
Get out - cause you're breaking the law
How did you ever find me
Places where I can hide can't get much smaller
    I have invisible dreams
Where no one can touch me
Maybe I'll find a way to disappear
No one moves - and no one dies
    Just the eyes
I've run as fast as I can
    Thinking they'll never catch me
What a waste of breath a waste of time
    Feel like digging a hole
    Going in even deeper
Maybe they just can't see what just can't shine
I'll be lost - so no goddbyes
If no one moves then nothing dies
    Just the eyes
Oh no - they've done it again
    Sending out the detectives
Searching for signs of life and that means me
    In my invisible dreams
    When no one is watching
I'd make the whole world blind and I'd be free
I'll be lost - so no replies
If no one looks then no one dies
    Just the eyes
    Those eyes
    Magic numbers
    Even sacrifice
    I can't find a way
