The Era

The Era may refer to:

The Era (dance crew)

The Era is a Chicago-based footwork dance crew. Dancers from the group have performed at London's Barbican, the Pitchfork Festival in Chicago, and South by Southwest. The group also teaches footwork at High Concept Laboratories, where they have an incubation studio space.

The group was founded on the South Side of Chicago. Members Litebulb, Steelo, Dempsey, and Chief Manny (along with DJ Jody Breeze) met as members of the Chicago battle crew Terra Squad. Litebulb and P-Top met on the set of the film Manglehorn.

In 2015, Litebulb received the Chicago Dancemakers Forum Award. In 2015, members Litebulb and Glasspiegel received the Crossing Boundaries award from the University of Chicago. They expressed plans to use the prize to develop an educational project on the history of footwork.

The Era (album)

The Era (traditional Chinese: 跨時代; simplified Chinese: 跨时代; pinyin: kuà shí dài) is Taiwanese Mandopop artist Jay Chou's tenth Mandarin studio album. It was released on 18 May 2010 by JVR Music and distributed by Sony Music Taiwan. It was released with a bonus DVD containing the music videos of "超人不會飛" (Superman Can't Fly) and "免費教學錄影帶" (Free Tutorial Video).

Reception

The tracks "超人不會飛" (Superman Can't Fly) and "雨下一整晚" (Rain Falls All Night) and "跨時代" (The Era) are listed at number 2, 10 and 39 respectively on Hit Fm Taiwan's Hit Fm Annual Top 100 Singles Chart (Hit-Fm年度百首單曲) for 2010. The album is the second best selling album in Taiwan in 2010, with 110,000 copies sold.

The album was nominated for six awards at the 22nd Golden Melody Awards in 2011, including Best Song of the Year for "超人不會飛" (Superman Can't Fly). It won Best Arranger for Cai Kejun (蔡科俊) for "免費教學錄影帶" (Free Tutorial Video), Best Mandarin Album and Best Male Mandarin Artist for Chou for his work on this album.
