KDND

KDND is an FM radio station licensed to Sacramento, California at 107.9 MHz. It is owned by Entercom. KDND broadcasts a Pop Contemporary Hits format under the name 107.9 The End. KDND's current format debuted on July 14, 1998, when it changed formats from classic rock. Its studios are located in North Highlands (with a Sacramento address) and its transmitter is near Rio Linda.

The station is also one of three Top 40 stations competing in the Sacramento radio market, as it competes against another Top 40/CHR, KHHM (owned by Entravision), and Rhythmic Top 40 KSFM (owned by CBS Radio).

The station currently averages more than 550,000 listeners a day, more than any of its competitors in the Sacramento area.

History

KDND is the successor to KXOA-FM, which had been broadcasting since the late 1940s with various formats. On March 25, 1994, at 3 PM, the station flipped from adult contemporary to All-70's Hits as "Arrow 108." In 1996, Brown Broadcasting sold KXOA-FM to Entercom (which already owned KSEG and KRXQ). The station continued to program its previous “Arrow” format until July 14, 1998. The owners flipped the station to a CHR/Pop format, and changed the call letters to KDND. The station was named “The End”, apparently as a reference to the station’s 107.9 position on the FM dial. Entercom had started using the name previously, however, on KNDD/Seattle—also at "the end" of the FM dial, at 107.7 MHz.

Unfair: The End

Unfair: The End (アンフェア　the end) is a 2015 Japanese police drama thriller film based on the Japanese television drama series Unfair. It follows two other films based on the series, Unfair: The Movie (2007) and Unfair 2: The Answer (2011). The film is directed by Shimako Satō, who also directed the previous film, with Ryoko Shinohara reprising her role from the series and films. It was released on September 5, 2015.

Box office

The film was number-one at the Japanese box office on its opening weekend by number of admissions, with 214,000, and was second place by gross renevue, with ¥295 million. On its second weekend it earned ¥191 million and again placed second by gross revenue. By September 29, it had earned ¥1.79 billion.

KHTB

KHTB (101.9 FM) is a Salt Lake City, Utah-based radio station. The station's studios are located in South Salt Lake (behind the I-15/I-80 interchange) and its transmitter site is located southwest of the city on Farnsworth Peak in the Oquirrh Mountains.

History of KKAT

In 1995, KKAT licensed "Young Country" from Alliance Broadcasting. It was the first country station to intentionally go after young listeners. Also that year, Kid Cassidy (John Potter) of KWNR replaced Gary and Scotty in the mornings, with Insane Rick Shane remaining as producer. Other local hosts were T.J. Evans, "Gentleman Jim" Mickleson, Bob Wells and Tracy Chapman, while Blair Garner did the overnight shift. KKAT took over the number one position among five country stations from KSOP-FM, the only station in the group to lose listeners. Gary and Scotty had been hired to replace Ken Simmons after Simmons' arrest for lewd behavior, and the station and the morning hosts could not overcome the stigma of that incident. But hiring Cassidy and a strong promotional effort worked. KKAT would be replaced by KPQP, a Top 40 station, in 2004. KPQP would last until KENZ's move to the frequency in late 2005.

KNDD

KNDD (107.7 FM), also known as "107.7 The End", is an alternative rock radio station in Seattle, Washington. It is operated by Entercom Communications. Its studios are located in the Metropolitan Park West tower between Downtown and South Lake Union in Seattle. The station broadcasts on 107.7 MHz with an ERP of 68,000 watts and transmits from a tower near Issaquah, Washington on Tiger Mountain.

History

The station began its life in 1962 as non-commercial KRAB, founded by Lorenzo Milam and eventually owned by the Jack Straw Memorial Foundation. KRAB broadcast an eclectic mix of Pacifica radio features, world music, jazz, and much more. But the station was also dangerously close to insolvency. Its management realized the station could be sold to a commercial broadcaster and an endowment created, allowing the Foundation to broadcast in the non-commercial part of the radio dial, which exists between 88.1 MHz and 91.9 MHz. The owners of KRAB originally applied to share time with KNHC, owned by the Seattle Public Schools. However, this action was seen by the school district as a hostile take-over bid. Ultimately, the owners got a license for 90.7 MHz in Everett, Washington. KRAB's legacy remains on the air at KSER.

The End...

The End... is the fourth studio album by Nico. It was released in November 1974, through record label Island.

Background

The End... is her fifth collaboration with John Cale and second with him as producer. It carries the same harmonium-based sound heard on The Marble Index (1969) and Desertshore (1970), with the addition of Brian Eno's synthesizers and electronic instruments.

The song "You Forget to Answer" tells of the misery felt by Nico when she failed to reach ex-lover Jim Morrison by phone only to find out later that he had died. All but two of the songs on the album were written by Nico: the cover of The Doors' "The End" and a version of the German national anthem "Das Lied der Deutschen". Brian Eno performs synthesizer on "It Has Not Taken Long", "You Forgot to Answer" and "Innocent and Vain".

The front and back covers feature stills from the Philippe Garrel film Les hautes solitudes (1974) in which Nico appears.

The End (UK band)

The End was a British rock band formed in 1965 by Dave Brown (bass, vocals) and Colin Griffin (guitar, lead vocals) following the demise of The Innocents. Nick Graham (keyboards, vocals) and John Horton (saxophone) joined from Dickie Pride's backing group, The Original Topics, and Roger Groom (drums) of The Tuxedos completed the line-up. The band was produced by Rolling Stone Bill Wyman, who arranged for them to tour with his group. After the tour, Grooms quit and was replaced by Hugh Atwooll, an old friend of Graham. Horton would also quit, but continued to work with the band on their second single, "Shades of Orange". In 1969 the band released their only album, Introspection.

They are not to be confused with the similarly named California band, who released two singles for Kabron Records in 1966/67.
