The Director

The Director (ISBN 0-380-00669-3) is a novel by United States author Henry Denker, published in 1971.

The novel is about an ambitious young film director, named Jock Finley, who uses two prominent film stars Carr and Daisy Donnel (ostensibly based on John Wayne and Marilyn Monroe) to rebuild his already damaged career. The novel is laced with sharp dialogue and explicit sex encounters in line with counterculture of 1970's.The Underlying theme of the novel is clash of generations as of values.

The Director (play)

The Director is a theatrical play by Nancy Hasty that debuted in 2000 at the Arclight Theatre. It ran from February 15 to July 1, 2000.

Plot

Peter, a highly demanding with borderline personality who believes is creating avant-garde theatre. Being a bastard yet charming, he has been reduced to a janitor in a rehearsal studio and it works well for him because he can use the stage on the off hours. He then beguiles his unfortunate actors into playing a series of appalling acting experiences that gradually become more demented and eventually out of control.

Cast

Directed by Evan Bergman, set design by John Farrell, lighting design by Steve Rust, and costumes by Jill Kliber. Starring John Shea as Peter, Tasha Lawrence as a playwright who persuades Peter to direct the play the studio is putting on, and Tanya Clarke, Todd Simmons, Shula Van Buren and Warren Press as the actors.

Incidental music was Rachmaninoff's Concerto #2.

The Ring (Chuck)

The Ring is a major spy organization in the television series Chuck. The main antagonist of the second season (after being introduced in the first), Fulcrum, is revealed in the Season Two finale to be only one part of the Ring, which then serves as the main antagonist of Season Three. The Ring's goals are not known, but it is clearly in conflict with the legitimate American intelligence community, and attempts to manipulate politics in several countries to accomplish its ends.

Organization

Little information about the Ring has been revealed so far. In "Chuck Versus the Ring," Bryce Larkin reveals that FULCRUM was only one part of the Ring, however he died from a fatal gunshot wound before he could say anything further about what he knew. Unlike FULCRUM, which is primarily made up of rogue elements of the CIA, the Ring has operatives outside the intelligence community.

How much the government knows about the organization is also unknown. Bryce Larkin was familiar with their existence, and Daniel Shaw has been tracking them for at least five years by the time he takes over command of Team Bartowski. In "Chuck Versus Operation Awesome" he reveals that the Ring is primarily cell-based and consists of a large number of small and decentralized groups. Ring cells operate with a high degree of autonomy, and an agent who misidentified Devon as a spy would not have reported in to her superiors until it was confirmed they had him "turned."
