The Descent

The Descent is a 2005 British horror film written and directed by Neil Marshall. The film follows six women who, having entered an unmapped cave system, become trapped and are hunted by troglofaunal flesh-eating humanoids.

Filming took place in the United Kingdom. Exterior scenes were filmed at Ashridge Park, Buckinghamshire/Hertfordshire. Because the filmmakers considered it too dangerous and time-consuming to shoot in an actual cave, interior scenes were filmed on sets built at Pinewood Studios near London. The Descent opened commercially 8 July 2005 in the United Kingdom. It premiered in the 2006 Sundance Film Festival and opened commercially on 4 August 2006 in the United States.

A sequel, titled The Descent Part 2, was released in 2009 and depicts events that take place two days after the end of the original film. It was successful, earning twice as much as the film's budget; however, not as much as the original and was not as favorably reviewed.

Plot

Juno (Natalie Mendoza), Sarah (Shauna Macdonald) and Beth (Alex Reid) are whitewater rafting in Scotland. Sarah's husband Paul (Oliver Milburn) and their daughter Jessica (Molly Kayll) wave and cheer from the bank. Juno is seen talking intimately with Paul by Beth. On the drive back to their hotel, Paul gets distracted, causing a collision. Paul and Jessica are killed, but Sarah survives.

The Descent (album)

The Descent is the debut album by Norwegian progressive metal band Mantric. The sound of the album picks up where the members left off with the fourth Extol album, The Blueprint Dives.

"The Descent" is the 12th episode of the second season of The CW television series, The Vampire Diaries and the 34th episode of the series overall. It originally aired on January 27, 2011. The episode was written by Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain and directed by Marcos Siega.

Plot

The episode starts with Jules (Michaela McManus) waking up in the woods next to a camp after the full moon night when she attacked Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and bit Rose (Lauren Cohan). She is surrounded by dead campers who she attacked the previous night and she starts trying to cover her tracks when an officer arrives and asks if she is fine. Jules pretends she is crying and that her friends were attacked by a wolf but when the officer goes to call some help, Jules kills him before he does it.

Stefan (Paul Wesley) tells Elena (Nina Dobrev) that he wants to find Isobel so he can ask her about Elijah and he plans to ask Katherine where he can find her. Elena does not agree with his plan and reminds him that she made a deal with Elijah so no one get hurt. Stefan reminds her that she was the one who made the deal and not him and leaves to find Alaric (Matt Davis) at the Grill where Stefan asks his help to find Isobel. Alaric gives him a former phone number of Isobel's and Stefan starts searching for her.
