The Clique is an American young adult novel series written by Lisi Harrison and was originally published by Little, Brown and Company, a subsidiary of the Hachette Group, but got reprinted by Poppy books. The series revolves around five girls: Massie Block, Alicia Rivera, Dylan Marvil, Claire Lyons, and Kristen Gregory collectively make up The Pretty Committee, an A-Lister clique at the fictional, all-girls middle school, Octavian Country Day, or as Massie likes to call it, OCD. The fifth girl, Claire Lyons, is a misfit from Orlando, Florida. She shops at stores like Wal-Mart and Target and has no clue what life in Westchester is like and what is expected of her there. Massie is the head of the clique, and likes to dress in Juicy Couture, Louis Vuitton, and Miu Miu, while Claire, a newcomer to the area, is initially considered an outcast due to her financial and fashion status. As the series progresses, Claire slowly develops a friendship with Massie, realizing that she must earn her friendship, and eventually becomes a member of the group. She soon finds out though, life in The Pretty Committee isn't all what it's cracked up to be...
The Clique was a group of English artists formed by Richard Dadd in the late 1830s. Other members were Augustus Egg, Alfred Elmore, William Powell Frith, Henry Nelson O'Neil, John Phillip and Edward Matthew Ward.
They have been described as “the first group of British artists to combine for greater strength and to announce that the great backward-looking tradition of the Academy was not relevant to the requirements of contemporary art”.
Information about the activities of The Clique derives mainly from the reminiscences of Frith and a short essay published in The Art Journal in 1898 by Gilbert Imray, a friend of the group. Both state that the group called themselves by this name at the time and that they formed a sketching club. Imray describes the aspirations of some members and explains that at their meetings they would all produce drawings on the same subject and ask non-artists such as Imray to judge the merits of the works.
They met together at the end of the 1830s and early 1840s. The group broke up in 1843 when Dadd became insane and was incarcerated after murdering his father. The others all became successful members of the Royal Academy of Arts (though O'Neil only became an associate member, not a full member). Their work was supported by the newly founded periodical The Art Journal.
The Clique is a 2008 American teen comedy film directed by Michael Lembeck, based on the popular teen series The Clique by author Lisi Harrison. The film was produced through Alloy Entertainment and released through Tyra Banks' company Bankable Productions.
Massie (Elizabeth McLaughlin), Dylan (Sophie Anna Everhard), Kristen (Bridgit Mendler) and Alicia (Samantha Boscarino) are the most popular girls at Octavian Country Day, calling themselves the Pretty Committee. However Massie is devastated when the Block family takes in the Lyons family, who have moved from Orlando, Florida with their daughter, Claire (Ellen Marlow). Claire attempts to impress Massie by convincing her mother to buy her designer clothing at the mall, where she bumps into Dylan and the two become acquainted. Meanwhile, Massie meets a boy named Chris Abeley (Keli Price) while horseback riding and immediately finds him attractive.
At school, Claire bumps into Chris in front of the steps, which makes Massie jealous. Massie orders the girls to exclude Claire because she had a fight with her. Claire meets the eccentric Layne Abeley (Vanessa Marano), they become friends and eventually make plans on Friday.
The Clique was an English rock band, formed in the late 1980s by Jon Paul Harper, Paul Newman, Phillip Otto and Gilles B. Mery. This line-up played many gigs centred on the revived UK mod scene. After sporadic experiments with keyboard players, including James Taylor (see below), Dom Strickland became full-time Hammond player in late 1991, and also their main songwriter, and Trevor French became lead singer. Up to that point the Clique had been a covers band, making up for their lack of original material by covering rare and obscure freakbeat material. Shortly thereafter, in an unrelated move, Mery departed to his native France, and he was replaced by Matthew Braim, who played his first gig in April 1993. This particular line-up is now generally regarded as the Clique at the height of their powers.
Their first recording, "Worming", appeared in a Totally Wired compilation album on the Acid Jazz Records label in 1989. Their raw R'n'B style showed up on the EP Detour Records edited in 1993, with the inclusion of "Early Days", featuring Taylor on Hammond organ.
Just because I walk
Like Obi-Wan Kenobi
You people talk
But you don't even know me
And all these guys
(But thats alright)
I think they wanna fight me
('Cuz I get down with GC)
And all these girls
(So I walk on)
I know that they don't like me
(And listen to their CD's)
Some people laugh
They do it just to spite me
I'm in a crowd
(Behind my back)
And none of them are like me
(They don't know what I see)
But I don't care what they say
I don't need them anyway
I'll just go about my day, but anyway
You go out on Friday night
I'll stay in but that's all right
'Cause I have found a click
To call my own, in crowd
Out crowd, I don't care, your crowd
My crowd, we can share
'Cause I have found
A click to call my own
(Let's go)
So come and talk to me
On my computer screen
The best years of our lives
Aren't as easy as they seem
But one day we'll look back
And then we'll have to laugh
They used to call us names
Now they want our autographs
To get the girl and make the grade
It's all a show, it's all a game
And I would lose it if I play
It's all the same
So I don't care what they say
I don't need them anyway
I'll just go about my day
But anyway
You go out on Friday night
I'll stay in but that's all right
'Cause I have found a click
To call my own, in crowd
Out crowd, I don't care, your crowd
My crowd, we can share
'Cause I have found a
Click to call my own
She says she'd call
But I know she won't
(She won't)
(She won't)
You go out on Friday night
I'll stay in but that's all right
'Cause I have found a click
To call my own, in crowd
Out crowd, I don't care, your crowd
My crowd, we can't share
'Cause I have found a
Click to call my own
(Let's go)
I don't care what you say
I don't need you anyway
I'll just go about my day
But anyway
I don't care what you say
I don't need you anyway
I'll just go about my day
