The City is an American television soap opera that aired on ABC from November 13, 1995 to March 28, 1997. The series was a continuation of the serial Loving, which ran from 1983 until 1995, and featured the surviving central characters of its final major story arc, which saw most of the show's characters fall victim to a serial killer. The characters that survived moved from Corinth, Pennsylvania to New York City and settled in the Manhattan neighborhood of SoHo.
The show was co-created by Agnes Nixon, the creator of Loving, and the show's last pair of headwriters, Barbara Esensten and James Harmon Brown. The show won two Daytime Emmy Awards in 1996.
While it was started by Loving creator Agnes Nixon, The City was different from other soaps of its day, as the city wasn't the main setting of the series: the loft and its surroundings took precedence, and the city was secondary. Also, the show was shot on videotape using the FilmLook process for its entire run (one of two soap operas ever to do so, All My Children also used the FilmLook processing from 2006 to 2010).
Bradford City Hall is a Grade I listed, 19th century town hall in Centenary Square, Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. It is notable for its landmark bell/clock tower.
The building was designed by Lockwood and Mawson, and opened in 1873.
Winston Churchill gave his first speech after the Second Battle of El Alamein outside the hall in which he called for the people to 'go forward together and put these grave matters to the proof'.
Before its relocation, between 1847 to 1872, the town hall had been the Fire Station House in Swain Street. In 1869, a new triangular site was purchased, and a competition held for a design to rival the town halls of Leeds and Halifax. The local firm of Lockwood and Mawson was chosen over the other 31 entries. It was built by John Ives & Son of Shipley and took three years to build at a cost of £100,000. It was opened on 9 September 1873, on a very wet day by Matthew Thompson, the mayor.
It was first extended in 1909 to a design by Norman Shaw and executed by architect F.E.P. Edwards, with another council chamber, more committee rooms and a banqueting hall. It was extended again in 1914 with a new entrance and staircase in baroque marble by William Williamson and listed grade I on 14 June 1963.
Oregon City Hall is the main municipal building for the Ogle County, Illinois city of Oregon. It stands on Oregon's Third Street, in the middle of the Oregon Commercial Historic District. The building is considered a contributing structure to the overall historical integrity of the historic district. Erected in 1920, the building, along with the rest of the historic district joined the National Register of Historic Places in August 2006.
Macon City Hall serves as the seat of government for the city of Macon, Georgia, in the United States. It is located in the downtown area, surrounded by Cotton Avenue, First Street, Poplar Street, and D.T. Walton, Sr. Way. It is located diagonally across the street from the Macon City Auditorium.
The Classical Revival structure was built in 1837 as the headquarters of the Monroe Railroad & Banking Co., before later serving as City Hall. During the American Civil War it was called into duty as a military hospital beginning in 1863. Its greatest notoriety came the next year, when Governor Joseph E. Brown, fleeing the Union army's advance into Milledgeville, moved the state capital to Macon and set up an office at City Hall, beginning November 18, 1864. The General Assembly met in the building the following February and March, the last legislative session under the Confederate States of America. The building ceased to serve as capitol on March 11, 1865.
Currently, City Hall houses city administrative offices, including that of the mayor and police department. City Council chambers are also located within the building. An eternal flame burns on the Poplar Street side of the building at the foot of the two grand staircases that flank the building's white-columned portico.
The city hall in my mind, met last night
Rumors of reelection started to fly
It's my funeral today, my funeral today
I laid it down Underneath the sound
It's my principle concern, my principle concern is what you say
But I wanted it this way.
Cause I'm throwin down without a fight
You're more than welcome to look around
Consult your checklist go underground
I'll claim a stake here inside the frame
But I'm going under another way
I won't return after today
So I'm at liberty to say what's on my mind
And it some I like
You can't watch me, you can't make me like before
When I was yours when all I wanted was the door
So I'm throwin down without a fight
You're more than welcome to look around
Consult your checklist go underground
I'll claim a stake here inside the frame
But I'm going under another way
Decision on the dock head
Make up your mind and if you get consensus
Drop me a line
The city hall in my mind, got together last night
