The Blue

The Blue is a central market place in Bermondsey an area in London. The market is open Monday to Saturday from 9am until 5pm and has about 10 stall holders, selling food and clothes. The area has been known as The Blue for more than two hundred and thirty years and is probably named after the original Blue Anchor public house that gave its name to Blue Anchor Lane. The market has capacity for 24 stalls.

Immediately north of Blue Anchor Lane on an arched viaduct are the multiple railway tracks of the Brighton and South East Main Lines. The Blue Anchor Lane joins St. James's Road where the viaduct arches to the immediate north west contain the remnants of the disused Spa Road railway station which was the original terminus of London's first railway.

In 2005 a Metropolitan Police report described the area as a crime hotspot for "race crime and youth disorder". In 2009 during the funeral procession of Jade Goody a white dove was released at The Blue, where her family once had a stall.

Reception

Sea of Tranquility described the album as a continuation of the sound experiment on Materia with the addition of a heavier approach, especially in the vocal department.

The Blue World

The Blue World is a science fiction adventure novel written by Jack Vance. The novel is based on Vance’s earlier novella "The Kragen", which appeared in the July 1964 edition of Fantastic Stories of Imagination.

Plot summary

Sklar Hast, the protagonist, had achieved a measure of success and prosperity by passing his examination to be a “Hoodwink”, or semaphore tower operator – a prestigious position on the Blue World, a planet with no land at all. During the space of twelve generations, the descendants of a crashed prison ship have created a rudimentary civilization on the water-covered planet, living on huge sea plants. However, they must beware the kragen, giant, semi-intelligent squid-like predators which roam the ocean. The colonists eventually develop a relationship with one of these, King Kragen. It drives off other kragen in return for offerings of food organized by an entrenched quasi-religious priesthood built up over generations. King Kragen grows to become the largest and most powerful kragen, demanding more and more food as time goes by.

"Blue World" is a 1983 single by The Moody Blues written by Justin Hayward. It was first released as single in August 1983, and was later released on the album The Present. "Blue World" was one of three singles from The Present, with the others being "Sitting at the Wheel" and "Running Water." "Blue World" also referenced two earlier Moody Blues songs, "The Voice" and "Fly Me High". "Blue World" was a moderate success for The Moody Blues in the U.S., charting at #32 on the Mainstream Rock chart, and at #62 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In the UK it reached #35, proving to be their first UK Top 40 hit in ten years, barring a reissue of Nights in White Satin, and remains their last there to date.

Blue World is the fifth Japanese language single of South Korean boy band Super Junior, released on 11 December 2013 by Avex Trax.

Background

It was announced on September 26, 2013, during the event E.L.F-JAPAN FESTIVAL 2013 that Super Junior would be releasing their fifth official Japanese single, "Blue World", in December 2013. The song will be the first original Japanese release by the group. It was later revealed on October 23 the single was set for December 11, containing on the B-Side another song named "Candy". The single was released in three different editions: CD-only, 2CD+DVD and E.L.F JAPAN version.

On November 8, 2013, Avex released a highlight medley of the upcoming single through YouTube with a preview of both songs and revealed the different covers from each edition of the single. This will be the first song of the group involving Heechul after he came back from the military service.

Commercial performance

"Blue World" peaked on the daily Oricon Singles Chart at number two, having sold 46,968 copies. It charted at #2 in the Oricon Weekly Chart with 68,684 copies sold.
