San Joaquin Light and Power Corporation Building

San Joaquin Light and Power Corporation Building is an historic 11-storey, 52.8 m (173 ft) high-rise in downtown Fresno, California. The building was completed in 1923 for the San Joaquin Light and Power Corporation, that later became the Pacific Gas and Electric Company, by chief designer Raymond R. Shaw of the R.F. Felchlin Company. The building is the fourth tallest in the city.

The Grand is a British television drama series was produced by Granada Television for the ITV network, first broadcast between 4 April 1997 and 3 April 1998. It was written by Russell T Davies and set in a grand hotel in Manchester in the 1920s.

There are two series: eight episodes in the first series were broadcast from 4 April 1997 to 23 May 1997 and ten in the second series from 30 January 1998 to 3 April 1998. All 18 episodes were written by Russell T Davies. The cast included Susan Hampshire, Julia St. John, Tim Healy, Michael Siberry, Stephen Moyer and Mark McGann.

The two series were novelised by Catrin Collier, under the pen name Katherine Hardy.

The series featured the Bannerman family that owned and ran the hotel, the staff that lived in the basement and occasional guests.

The Birds II: Land's End

The Birds II: Land's End is a 1994 made-for-cable-television film sequel to Alfred Hitchcock's 1963 classic The Birds starring Brad Johnson, Chelsea Field, James Naughton and Tippi Hedren in a minor role different from the one she played in the original Hitchcock film. The original music score was composed by Ron Ramin. The Birds II: Land's End word premiered on the Showtime cable network on March 14, 1994.

The plot of the sequel is very similar to the original. Biology teacher and Somali Civil War veteran, Ted, his wife, and children move to a summer house on an island after the death of their son. While there, flocks of birds start attacking individuals for no apparent reason. The town mayor denies the birds' role in the injuries, but is forced to believe after further incidents of violence by the birds.

Plot

Ted and Mary Hocken (Brad Johnson and Chelsea Field) move to a remote, windswept, tiny East Coast island with their two young daughters; the Hockens are determined to forget their painful past of losing their son and spend a quiet, uneventful summer.

The Birds, original Nynorsk title Fuglane, is a novel by Norwegian author Tarjei Vesaas. It was first released in 1957, and has been translated into several languages, including English.

Synopsis

The story revolves around the inner world of Matthew, who is mentally challenged and lives with his sister.

Legacy

Being regarded as one of Vesaas' most important novels, it was included in the major Norwegian publisher Gyldendal Norsk Forlag's 30 picks for Norway's national literature both in 1967 and 1996. In 2007, the Norwegian Festival of Literature included it in a best-of list of 25 Norwegian literary works, picked by a jury of ten.

Film

The 1968 Polish motion picture Matthew's Days by Witold Leszczyński was based on the novel.
