The Best Damn Thing is the third studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Avril Lavigne. It was released on 17 April 2007 by RCA Records. The album represents a musical departure from her earlier studio album Under My Skin (2004) which incorporates more elements of post-grunge music. The Best Damn Thing is seen by critics as Lavigne's most commercial effort. The album was noted as her first effort to feature a wide range of producers for the studio album, including Matt Beckley, Rob Cavallo, Dr. Luke and Lavigne herself who was referenced as the executive producer.
Upon its release, The Best Damn Thing received generally positive reviews from music critics, many praising her transition from grungey alternative rock music to more pop-punk music, with it being catchy and very radio-friendly. However, the main criticism of the album was the lyrical content, where some found it too rough or brutal. The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 289,000 copies. The album also debuted atop of the charts including countries Austria, Canada, United Kingdom and many other countries. The album went on to sell over 10 million copies worldwide, becoming one of the best-selling albums of 2007. To further promote the album, Lavigne embarked on The Best Damn World Tour, which began in March 2008 and continued through October 2008.
"The Best Damn Thing" is a song by Canadian singer-songwriter Avril Lavigne, taken from her third studio album of the same name (2007). The song was released as the fourth and final single from the album only in some European countries and in Brazil during June 2008. The song was written by Lavigne and Butch Walker, and was produced by Walker. The song is a pop punk track about female self-confidence, containing a spell out of her name, in the style of an American football cheer, with each letter spelling out a different way in which a girlfriend deserves to be treated.
The song received mixed reviews from music critics, some citing its similarities to Toni Basil's song "Mickey", and comparing it to her previous single "Girlfriend". Commercially, the song failed to make any significant impact on the charts, peaking outside the top-forty in most countries. However, it achieved platinum status in Brazil, for selling over 100,000 copies. A music video for the song was directed by Wayne Isham, featuring Lavigne as the leader of a cheerleading group, wearing a pink wig whilst playing an electric guitar, and with her band. She performed the song only on her "Best Damn Tour" (2008).

Alright, now let me hear you say hey hey ho

I hate it when a guy doesn't get the door
Even though I told him yesterday and the day before
I hate it when a guy doesn't get the tab
And I have to pull my money out and that looks bad
Where are the hopes? Where are the dreams?
My Cinderella story scene?
When do you think they'll finally see?
That you're not, not, not gonna get any better
You won't, won't, won't, you won't get rid of me, never
Like it or not even though she's a lot like me
We're not the same
And yeah, yeah, yeah I'm a lot to handle
You don't know trouble, I'm a hell of a scandal
Me, I'm a scene, I'm a drama queen
I'm the best damn thing that your eyes have ever seen
Alright, alright
Yeah
I hate it when a guy doesn't understand
Why a certain time of month I don't want to hold his hand
I hate it when they go out and we stay in
And they come home smelling like their ex-girlfriends
I found my hopes, I found my dreams
My Cinderella story scene
Now everybody's gonna see
That you're not, not, not gonna get any better
You won't, won't, won't, you won't get rid of me, never
Like it or not, even though she's a lot like me
We're not the same
And yeah, yeah, yeah I'm a lot to handle
You don't know trouble, I'm a hell of a scandal
Me, I'm a scene, I'm a drama queen
I'm the best damn thing that your eyes have ever seen
Give me an A! Always give me what I want
Give me a V! Be very very good to me
R! Are you gonna treat me right?
I! I can put up a fight
Give me an L! Let me hear you scream loud
Let me hear you scream loud
One, two, three, four!
Where are the hopes? Where are the dreams?
My Cinderella story scene?
When do you think they'll finally see?
That you're not, not, not gonna get any better
You won't, won't, won't, you won't get rid of me, never
Like it or not, even though she's a lot like me
We're not the same
And yeah, yeah, yeah I'm a lot to handle
You don't know trouble, I'm a hell of a scandal
Me, I'm a scene, I'm a drama queen
I'm the best damn thing that your eyes have ever seen
Let me hear you say hey hey hey
Hey hey hey
Alright, now let me hear you say hey hey ho
Hey hey ho
Hey hey hey
Hey hey hey
