The Art of Love may refer to:
The Art of Love is the eighth studio album by German singer Sandra, released in 2007.
The highly anticipated studio album, The Art of Love was released in February 2007, entering the 16th position on the German charts. The Album had 3 Singles Released although none of them have received a music video. For the first time, Michael Cretu did not work as a producer for the album, as he was reportedly busy producing his new Enigma album A posteriori. Sandra's management first tried to find producers from the United Kingdom, but Sandra didn't like the idea of leaving her family for a long period of time. Finally, Sandra contacted Michael Cretu's "right hand", Jens Gad, who produced the entire album. Sandra, for the first time during her career, now participated actively in composing and writing the album. Therefore, the lyrics of the songs are more personal, with Sandra revisiting her childhood and all her sad experiences in them. She worked at Gad's studio at nights, returning home to prepare breakfast for her twins, and then sleeping until they would come home from school. Also, for the first time, Sandra revealed her new, sexier look in the promotional pictures shot in New York by Bärbel Miebach.
The Ars Amatoria (English: The Art of Love) is an instructional elegy series in three books by Ancient Roman poet Ovid. It was written in 2 AD. It is about teaching basic gentlemanly male and female relationship skills and techniques.
Book one of Ars Amatoria was written to show a man how to find a woman. In book two, Ovid shows how to keep her. The third book, written two years after the first books were published, gives women advice on how to win and keep the love of a man ("I have just armed the Greeks against the Amazons; now, Penthesilea, it remains for me to arm thee against the Greeks...").
The first two books, aimed at men, contain sections which cover such topics as 'not forgetting her birthday', 'letting her miss you - but not for long' and 'not asking about her age'. The third gives similar advice to women, sample themes include: 'making up, but in private', 'being wary of false lovers' and 'trying young and older lovers'. Although the book was finished around 2 AD, much of the advice he gives is applicable to any day and age. His intent is often more profound than the brilliance of the surface suggests. In connection with the revelation that the theatre is a good place to meet girls, for instance, Ovid, the classically educated trickster, refers to the story of the rape of the Sabine women. It has been argued that this passage represents a radical attempt to redefine relationships between men and women in Roman society, advocating a move away from paradigms of force and possession, towards concepts of mutual fulfilment.
"Too Shy" is a song written and recorded by English band Kajagoogoo, released in 1983. The first single from their debut album White Feathers, the song was an immediate hit and reached number one on the UK Singles Chart for two weeks. It was also very successful in other European countries, spending five weeks at number one in Germany, and reaching number two in Switzerland, and number four in Sweden, Austria and the Netherlands.
Assisted by heavy rotation on MTV, the song later became a success in the United States, peaking at number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Too Shy" is Kajagoogoo's only significant hit in the US, where the band is widely regarded as a one-hit wonder. In the UK, however, Kajagoogoo had further hits, including two more top 10 singles: "Ooh to Be Ah" and "Big Apple", both in 1983.
"Too Shy" was written by Kajagoogoo and produced by Duran Duran keyboardist Nick Rhodes and Colin Thurston, the latter of whom had produced Duran Duran's first two albums. In 2006, "Too Shy" was ranked number 27 on VH1's 100 Greatest Songs of the 80's and number 9 on VH1's "100 Greatest One Hit Wonders of the 80s."
Too Shy is a 1991 single by Maureen Tucker from I Spent a Week There the Other Night. Both songs featured are alternate versions than featured on the full album.
Tongue-tied, I'm short of breath, don't even try
Oooh, try a little harder
Something's wrong, you're not naive, you must be strong
Oooh, baby try
Hey girl, move a little closer
You're too shy, shy
Hush, hush, eye to eye
Too, shy, shy
Hush, hush, eye to eye
Too, shy, shy
Hush, hush, eye to eye
Too, shy, shy
Hush, hush
Modern medicine falls short of your complaints
Oooh, try a little harder
You're moving in circles, won't you dilate
Oooh, baby try
Hey girl, move a little closer
Cause, you're too shy, shy
Hush hush, eye to eye
Too, shy, shy
Hush, hush, eye to eye
Too, shy, shy
Hush, hush, eye to eye
Too, shy, shy
