The Attic (band)

The Attic is a Swedish house band duo whose members are Eric Amarillo (Erik Sundborg) and Michael Feiner that started under the name of Stereopol with the track 'Dancin' Tonight' in 2003. The two mostly perform house music songs of other artists, but they have also written their own songs.

They released a number of singles including "I Just Can't Help It", "Destiny", "In Your Eyes", "A Life To Live", "It's Beautiful" and "Baby". In 2006, they and Therese Grankvist recorded a song which they sent to Melodifestivalen; to their surprise the song was chosen to be performed in the festival. Therese, featuring The Attic, performed 'The Arrival' in the third semifinal, where they competed for the opportunity to represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 in Helsinki, Finland. On the 17th of February 2007 The Attic ft Therese came 7th in the semifinal and didn't qualify any further in the contest.

The band played a concert in central Chişinău, Moldova organised by mobile operator Orange on 24 May 2008.

The Attic (restaurant)

The Attic was a popular 1,200 seat Smörgåsbord restaurant in West Vancouver that was open from 1968 to 1981. The owners were former Vancouver alderman Frank Baker, (1922 - 1989), and his wife Dorothy.

Unique features

The Attic is most remembered for a 1964 James Bond car in a glass case as well as a Toronado 67 X built by George Barris for Expo 67. Both cars were parked out front for public view and sold near the time of the restaurant's closing.

There was a statue of David in the women's washroom. When the leaf was lifted on this statue, alarms would sound and/or lights would flash alerting other patrons and causing embarrassment to the person who lifted it.

Lance Harrison and the Dixieland Band entertained patrons, with Baker playing his trumpet on many occasions. He would also greet people at the door playing it. Baker also had a 12' by 6' weather vane mounted on the roof of him playing a trumpet.

Baker's was an avid collector of Tiffany lamps. His huge collection, said to be "over a hundred", were in use throughout the restaurant.

The Arrival (Fringe)

"The Arrival" is the fourth episode of the first season of the American science fiction drama television series Fringe. The episode was written by the series co-creator and executive producer J. J. Abrams and executive producer and show runner Jeff Pinkner. Paul A. Edwards directed it.

The episode concerns a mysterious cylindrical object called "The Beacon" which appears at a construction site in New York City. The story also involves the relationship between Walter Bishop (John Noble) and the mysterious Observer (Michael Cerveris in his first feature appearance).

"The Arrival" first aired in the United States on September 30, 2008 on the Fox Network to more than 10 million viewers. It received positive to mixed reviews, with many praising the new revelations about the Observers.

Plot

At a diner in Brooklyn, New York, a bald man with no eyebrows sits down at a table and orders a roast beef sandwich with eleven jalapeño peppers and a glass of room temperature water. When the sandwich arrives, he drowns it in Tabasco sauce and black pepper and wolfs it down in large, quick bites, to the bemusement of the diner staff. During this time he is also watching the construction site across the street through high-tech binoculars and taking notes from right to left in unrecognizable characters. The ground shakes and a gas main explodes at the site, toppling a crane. The bald man—the Observer—calmly pays for his sandwich and wanders to the gaping hole where the construction site was. On a wireless phone, he says "It has arrived."

The Arrival (EP)

The Arrival is the debut EP by Bliss n Eso, under the group's original name 'Bliss n Esoterikizm'. Bliss n Esoterikizm proved to be too much of a mouthful for most people so it was shortened.

The EP was produced by DJ Tokoloshe and features Nick Toth (scratches/turntablism) on "Next Shit" and MC Layla (vocals) on "Dreams".
