Gauge (knitting)

In knitting, the word gauge is used both in hand knitting and machine knitting; the latter, technical abbreviation GG, refers to "Knitting Machines" fineness size. In both cases, the term refers to the number of stitches per inch, not the size of the finished garment. In both cases, the gauge is measured by counting the number of stitches (in hand knitting) or the number of needles (on a knitting machine bed) over several inches then dividing by the number of inches in the width of the sample.

Gauge on knitting machines

There are two types of classification of Knitting Gauges or Unit of Measure:

  • A – Used for Cotton Fully fashion flat machines (Bentley – Monk, Textima, Sheller etc..) where “Gauge” is measured in 1,5” Inches (2,54 cm x 1,5) and the machine's gauge is expressed by the number of needles needed to achieve that gauge.
  • B – Used for hand, mechanical or modern Electronic Flat Machines (Stoll, Shima, Protti etc..), where gauge is measured in 1 inch increments (or 2,5 cm) and the machine's gauge is similarly measured by the number of needles required to achieve that number.
  • Tension (Die Antwoord album)

Ten$ion is the second studio album by South African hip-hop/rave group Die Antwoord. The album was released on the iTunes Store on 29 January 2012 and on CD on 7 February. The album was released on Die Antwoord's label Zef Recordz after leaving their previous label Interscope due to pressure on Die Antwoord to become "more generic". The album debuted at number 20 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart.

    Promotion

A trailer for the album was released 22 January 2012 featuring "I Fink U Freeky". The group also appears in both a video and print ads for Alexander Wang fashion line "T" for Spring 2012. The ad features the song "Fatty Boom Boom". The group also had a performance spot on the American television show Late Show with David Letterman, in which they performed "I Fink U Freeky." Letterman, apparently amused by the song, would randomly drop the phrase "I think you're freaky and I like you a lot" into his monologues for weeks afterward. They performed the same song on another US late night TV show Jimmy Kimmel Live!,

  • List of The Hunger Games characters

The following is a list of characters in The Hunger Games trilogy, a series of young adult science fiction novels by Suzanne Collins that were later adapted into a series of four feature films.

    Main characters

  • Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) is the protagonist and narrator of the series. She is 16 years old at the beginning of the first book and is portrayed as quiet, independent, and fierce. She has long dark hair (which she wears in a single side braid), olive skin, and grey eyes, all characteristics of "The Seam" part of District 12. Katniss likes the color green because of her familiarity with forests. Katniss lives with her mother and younger sister, Primrose (nicknamed "Prim"), after the death of her father, who was killed in a mining accident and left her mother deeply depressed, forcing Katniss to become the breadwinner of the family. When Prim is reaped at the 74th Hunger Games, Katniss volunteers to take her place. The series then chronicles her efforts to survive the game, using such skills as hunting with bow and arrow, and how her skills significantly impact her and everyone around her. Eventually, her choice at the end of the game to spare both District 12 tributes, as co-winners, change Panem forever, because the districts see her as the symbol of rebellion against the tyrannical Capitol and its leader, President Snow.
  • Rue89

Rue89 is a French news website started by former journalists from the newspaper Libération. It was officially launched on 6 May 2007, on the day of the second round of the French presidential election. Its news editor is Pascal Riché, former Op-ed editor of Libération, and its chief editor. The president of the society Rue89 is Pierre Haski, the former deputy editor of Libération.

    History

Rue89 was co-founded by Pierre Haski, Pascal Riché, Arnaud Aubron, Michel Lévy-Provençal, and Laurent Mauriac. Libération, which had been bought back by Édouard de Rothschild, was then in the turmoil of a crisis, which included a plan of downsizing and the voluntary resignation of a number of its long-standing employees. As soon as 14 May 2007, Rue89 published its first scoop, taken up by the rest of the French press, which concerned the censorship of an article which was to be published by Le Journal du Dimanche, owned by Arnaud Lagardère, who is close to Sarkozy. The suppressed article spoke about the abstention of Cécilia Sarkozy, the wife of the new President Nicolas Sarkozy, at the second round of the Presidential election.
