    Maya (stylised as ΛΛ Λ Y Λ) is the third studio album by English-Sri Lankan recording artist M.I.A., released on 7 July 2010 on her own label, N.E.E.T. Recordings, through XL Recordings and Interscope Records. Songwriting and production for the album were primarily handled by M.I.A., Blaqstarr and Rusko. M.I.A.'s long-time associates Diplo, Switch and her brother Sugu Arulpragasam also worked on the album, which was mainly composed and recorded at M.I.A.'s house in Los Angeles.

    The album's tracks centre on the theme of information politics and are intended to evoke what M.I.A. called a "digital ruckus". Elements of industrial music were incorporated into M.I.A.'s sound for the first time. A deluxe edition was released simultaneously, featuring four bonus tracks. Critics' opinions of the album were generally favourable although divided, with both its musical style and lyrical content each attracting praise and criticism. In its first week of release, the album entered the UK Albums Chart at number 21, becoming her highest-charting album in the UK. It also became her highest-charting album in the US, reaching number nine on the Billboard 200, and debuted in the top ten in Finland, Norway, Greece and Canada.

    Tell Me Why (Wynonna Judd song)

    "Tell Me Why" is a song written by Karla Bonoff and recorded by American country music artist Wynonna Judd. It was released in April 1993 as the first single and title track from Judd's album Tell Me Why. The song reached number 3 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart in May 1993 and number 1 on the RPM Country Tracks chart in Canada the following month.

    Tell Me Why (Wah Wah Collective song)

    "Tell Me Why" is a song by British eclectic soul group The Wah Wah Collective. The original version was a vinyl only release in March 2004 on the Greasy Geezers label. A new remastered radio edit version of the song was circulated in late 2013 by I-innovate (UK) to support The Wah Wah Collective debut album Cry Baby Soul released 24 February 2014. To accompany the release of Cry Baby Soul, re-issued 12" vinyl versions of "Tell Me Why" were redistributed. The album Cry Baby Soul features the full length version.

    Background

    Tell Me Why features Birmingham (UK) based soul, jazz vocalist Fiona Faye and was recorded within several Wah Wah jamming sessions in the early formation period of The Wah Wah Collective. Produced by Georgeyo with 'The Elusive' Najero Okenabirhie as Executive Producer.

    Critical Reception

    The 2013/14 version of Tell Me Why received a positive reception and extensive airplay on many specialist radio stations catering to the soul and funk genre throughout Europe, US and other countries. This prompted radio features and interviews for The Wah Wah Collective.

    Tell Me Why (Bobby Vinton album)

    Tell Me Why was Bobby Vinton's eighth studio album, released in July 1964. The title track is the album's only single. Cover versions include "Somewhere Along the Way", "When I Lost You", "Some of These Days", "Maybe You'll Be There", "If You Love Me (Really Love Me)" and "I Wanna Be Loved".

    Tell Me Why (Exposé song)

    "Tell Me Why" is a single by Exposé, released on December 9, 1989. It was written and produced by Lewis Martineé. The song was included on Exposé's second album, What You Don't Know. Lead vocals on "Tell Me Why" were sung by Gioia Bruno.

    Reception

    Released as the third single from What You Don't Know, "Tell Me Why" continued a successful streak for the group on the Billboard Hot 100 chart when it peaked at #9 in early 1990. It was Exposé's seventh consecutive top ten hit on the Hot 100, dating back to "Come Go with Me" in April 1987. Remixes of the song were popular in U.S. dance clubs, allowing it to reach #3 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart, the group's fifth top ten single on this survey. The song reached the lower region of the UK Singles Chart, spending one week at #97.

    Music video

    The music video shows the members of Exposé lip-synching the song interspersed with scenes implying urban gang violence. Lyrics such as Give me a reason for all this senseless crime / We can change it, why they have to die support an ultimate message of appealing to stop these sorts of activities. The video concludes with images of children playing and singing together on a playground.
