Tell me

Tell me is the title of an advertisement calling for universal suffrage in Hong Kong. It ran once as a full page ad on the front page of most Hong Kong newspapers on 28 October 2005, and inspired many other people and groups in Hong Kong to run advertisements supporting democracy, in response to the government's reform proposal which ruled out universal suffrage in 2007 and 2008 elections.

It was written in white text on a dark background. It also included a picture of an hourglass. About HK$200,000 ($25,600) was spent in placing the ads. In 2007, two more ads were placed costing about HK$100,000. The old man quoted in the ad worked in the property industry and is now retired. Legislator James To assisted him in designing and placing the advertisements.

    Tell Me!

"Tell Me!" was the Icelandic entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2000, performed in English by August & Telma. An Icelandic version was recorded but not released.

The song is an up-tempo duet, with the singers confessing their love for one another and planning to leave where they are in order to "be together all the time". The title comes from the chorus, where both singers ask each other to "tell me" how much they love each other.

It was performed twelfth on the night, following Cyprus' Voice with "Nomiza" and preceding Spain's Serafín Zubiri with "Colgado de un sueño". At the close of voting, it had received 45 points, placing 12th in a field of 24.

The song was succeeded as Icelandic representative at the 2001 contest by Two Tricky with "Angel".

  • Cao (Chinese surname)

Cao (/ˈts/) is the pinyin romanization of the Chinese surname (Cáo).

It was listed 26th among the Song-era Hundred Family Surnames.

    Romanizations

Cao is romanized as Ts'ao in Wade-Giles, although the needed apostrophe is often omitted in practice. It is romanized Cho, Cou, Tso, and Chaw in Cantonese; Chou, Chô, and Chháu in Min Nan; Chau, Chow in Teochew; and Tháu in Gan.

The Vietnamese surname based on it is now written Tào; the Korean surname is now written and romanized as Jo or Cho; and the Japanese surname which still employs the same Kanji is romanized .

    Distribution

At last count, Cao was the 30th-most-common surname in mainland China and the 58th-most-common surname on Taiwan.

In the United States, the romanization Cao is a fairly common surname, ranked 7,425th during the 1990 census but 2,986th during the year 2000 census. It is one of the few Chinese surnames whose pinyin transcription is already more common than other variants. The Wade transcription Tsao was only ranked 16,306th during the 1990 census and 12,580th during the year 2000 one. The Cantonese transcription is actually becoming less common, falling from 7,638th place to 9,925th. The Korean name Cho is more common still than Cao, befitting its frequency in Korea itself, where it makes up about 2% of the South Korean population: see Cho (Korean name).

    Tritiated water

Tritiated water is a radioactive form of water where the usual hydrogen atoms are replaced with tritium. In its pure form it may be called tritium oxide (T2O or 3H2O) or super-heavy water. Pure T2O is corrosive due to self-radiolysis. Diluted, tritiated water is mainly H2O plus some HTO (3HOH). It is also used as a tracer for water transport studies in life-science research. Furthermore, since it naturally occurs in minute quantities, it can be used to determine the age of various water-based liquids, such as vintage wines.

It should not be confused with heavy water, which is deuterium oxide.

    Applications

Tritiated water can be used to measure the total volume of water in one's body. Tritiated water distributes itself into all body compartments relatively quickly. The concentration of tritiated water in urine is assumed to be similar to the concentration of tritiated water in the body. Knowing the original amount of tritiated water that was ingested and the concentration, one can calculate the volume of water in the body.
