Loick Mark Essien (born 29 April 1990) is an English singer signed to record label Sony Music. Essien began his musical career after featuring on rapper Chipmunk's single "Beast". Essien was set to release his debut album, Identity, on 5 March 2012 but was dropped from his label weeks before the release date.
He studied vocals at The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance. His Father is Nigerian and his Mother is Ghanaian.
Essien began his musical career in 2007 when he sang the chorus on Bashy's controversial track, "Black Boys". Essien was uncredited on the track, however. His next appearance was in 2008 when he appeared on rapper Chipmunk's debut single "Beast". The single, released on 8 October 2008, debuted at number 181 in the UK Singles Chart and later appeared on the album I Am Chipmunk. Essien also featured on artist Bashy's lead single from his upcoming second album, "When the Sky Falls". The single, which was released independently on 12 March 2010, debuted at number 114 in the United Kingdom. On 12 October 2010, Essien released his debut solo single "Love Drunk" in the United Kingdom through Sony Music, where it debuted at number 56 in the UK chart. It was then confirmed in February 2011 that Essien would release his debut album, entitled Identity later that year. The second single to be released from the album, entitled "Stuttering" was released on 6 February 2011 and featured rap group N-Dubz, although only Dappy and Fazer appeared in the single's accompanying music video. The single marked Essien's top 40 debut, when it charted at number 36 on the UK Singles Chart.
Tell me is the title of an advertisement calling for universal suffrage in Hong Kong. It ran once as a full page ad on the front page of most Hong Kong newspapers on 28 October 2005, and inspired many other people and groups in Hong Kong to run advertisements supporting democracy, in response to the government's reform proposal which ruled out universal suffrage in 2007 and 2008 elections.
It was written in white text on a dark background. It also included a picture of an hourglass. About HK$200,000 ($25,600) was spent in placing the ads. In 2007, two more ads were placed costing about HK$100,000. The old man quoted in the ad worked in the property industry and is now retired. Legislator James To assisted him in designing and placing the advertisements.
"Tell Me!" was the Icelandic entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2000, performed in English by August & Telma. An Icelandic version was recorded but not released.
The song is an up-tempo duet, with the singers confessing their love for one another and planning to leave where they are in order to "be together all the time". The title comes from the chorus, where both singers ask each other to "tell me" how much they love each other.
It was performed twelfth on the night, following Cyprus' Voice with "Nomiza" and preceding Spain's Serafín Zubiri with "Colgado de un sueño". At the close of voting, it had received 45 points, placing 12th in a field of 24.
The song was succeeded as Icelandic representative at the 2001 contest by Two Tricky with "Angel".
Tell Me may refer to:
(Verse)
I know that I couldn't make you stay
Things happen and life is full of changes
Just know that I'll always feel the same
Somewhere deep down I never shut you out
(Pre-Chorus)
Don't ever change for me
Ever though I'm in another place
I still have that flame for you
It never goes away
(Chorus)
I close my eyes and I think of you again
How we were and how we're not the same
Girl I hope you're good and it all worked out okay
Just don't ever change
Just don't ever change
(Verse)
Some days I wish we had more
Girl just some of the best days of my life, so amazing
I know that for you they meant the same
Somewhere deep down you never shut me out
(Pre-Chorus)
Don't ever change for me
Ever though I'm in another place
(Chorus)
I close my eyes and I think of you again
How we were and how we're not the same
Girl I hope you're good and it all worked out okay
Just don't ever change
Don't ever change (Don't ever change)
I close my eyes and I picture you again
How we were and how we're not the same
Girl I hope you're good and it all worked out okay
Don't ever change
