"Tell Her" is a country pop ballad. In it, the male narrator addresses a male friend of his who is "lookin' for a friend" to help him. In the first verse, the narrator discovers that his friend is having difficulty in his relationship ("So you say your love's about to end / You say you can't take no more, she's out the door"). The narrator then asks whether the friend was "furious" or if he told her that he loves her.

The song's radio edit features a different vocal track, as well as a string section not present in the radio edit. Lonestar's greatest hits package uses the album version.

Tell Her

by: Kim Davis

[Verse 1:]
Hey its been a minute
Me and you going through it
Tried to walk away before
But my heart couldnt do it
Cause I decided that your past
It didn't matter to me
Cause you said right here
Was where you wanted to be
Now there's this chick
That I've been seeing around
Finally the other day
She came and sat me down
So she could tell me all about
How you be puttin in down
Telling her she's what you want
When I aint around she
Said you were slick
With the way that you spoke
And she couldn't understand
How you be loving us both
Said she aint the type of girl
Who gets easily used
But the situations heavy
And shes feeling confused
[Hook:]
Go head and tell her what you told me
You told me that you loved me only
And that you'd never leave me lonely
So nigga who is she
And what is she to you
Go head and tell her what you told me
You told me that you loved me only
And that you'd never leave me lonely
So nigga who is she
And what is she to you
Tell me baby..
[Verse 2:]
Hey I remember when you said
That you loved me
And that you'd never place another one
Above me
So baby tell me why your looking so
Nervous??
And why you got this chick
Looking so damn hurt
I can't believe that you would
Ever try and hide this
And still your trying so hard to deny this
And I aint tryna stand in your way
Cause I know that theres
So many things that your gonna say
Go head
[Hook:]
Go head and tell her what you told me
You told me that you loved me only
And that you'd never leave me lonely
So nigga who is she
And what is she to you
Go head and tell her what you told me
You told me that you loved me only
And that you'd never leave me lonely
So nigga who is she
And what is she to you
Tell me baby...
[Bridge:]
You think I'm playing wit cha
You messing wit the wrong sista
I let you inside of my heart
And my life and you
Can't even tell the truth
In front of my eyes
You make me sick I can't stand you
You trifflin' muther oh
I aint gon say it
I took you in and gave you part
Of my everything and now
You can't respect me enough
To tell me...?
[Hook:]
Go head and tell her what you told me
You told me that you loved me only
And that you'd never leave me lonely
So nigga who is she
And what is she to you
Go head and tell her what you told me
You told me that you loved me only
And that you'd never leave me lonely
So nigga who is she
