Ted Johnson

Ted Curtis Johnson (born December 4, 1972) is a former American football player in the National Football League. He grew up in Carlsbad, California where he graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1991. From there he attended the University of Colorado and was drafted by the Patriots in the second round of the 1995 NFL Draft with the 57th overall selection.

Playing career

In his ten-year professional career, Johnson played in 125 regular season games and recorded 763 tackles, 11.5 sacks, one interception, 16 passes defensed, six forced fumbles, and seven fumble recoveries. He was noted for his ability to generate many tackles and for his smart play at the linebacker position. He also was able to make an impact for the Patriots without tackling the ballcarrier, as former Fox Network analyst and NFL player Matt Millen states, "What you didn't see is Ted Johnson stoning the guard, getting off the guard, taking on the fullback and freeing up (Todd) Collins to make the tackle. That play does not get made except for Ted Johnson."

Ted Johnson was a Swedish-American violinist, who led a popular Scandinavian dance band in the Twin Cities during the 1930s and 1940s.

Biography

Born in 1903 to parents from the Swedish province of Skåne, Johnson grew up in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis, where Scandinavian music was frequently heard in the lodges and meeting halls. In the 1920s he embarked on a musical career, accompanying the singer Olle i Skratthult and later joining the Danielson Brothers Orchestra.

Throughout the 1930s and 1940s Ted Johnson led a group variously known as the "Nordvest Skandinavisk Orkester" and "Ted Johnson and his Midnight Suns". The violin and accordion-based ensemble played in a light and lively style unlike that of German brass bands. For many years they were the house band at the Stockholm Cafe in the heart of the Minneapolis Swedish quarter. They played at Dania Hall, Norway Hall, the Uptown Auditorium, the Prom Ballroom and other Twin Cities venues. Appearances on local radio stations (WCCO, WDGY and WTCN) and records on the Columbia and Vocalion labels spread their fame throughout the Upper Midwest.

Edward 'Ted' Johnson (12 November 1901 - 21 April 1970) was an Australian rules footballer who played with South Melbourne in the VFL during the 1920s. He was a key position forward and represented Victoria at interstate football.

From his debut in 1923 he topped the club's goalkicking for six successive seasons. From 1924 to 1928 he kicked 50 goals in a season with the exception of 1926 when he kicked 45 goals. His best tally in those years was 60 goals and he achieved that three times without being able to go over.

Stephen Edward Ingram "Ted" Johnson (17 February 1909 – 2002) was an Australian politician.

Born in Derbyshire to Stephen Henry Johnson, a schoolteacher, and Barbara Foster-Barham, Johnson and his family migrated to Fremantle in 1912. Johnson worked in various temporary jobs before becoming a bank officer. He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force in 1941 and served with the 44th Battalion and 35th Training Battalion. He was promoted lieutenant in October and discharged in July 1946. On 4 December 1937 he married Winifred Mabel McNaughton in South Perth; she died on 3 April 1975, and Johnson married Edna Pockrass on 14 February 1976. Johnson joined the Australian Labor Party in 1944 and was elected to the Western Australian Legislative Assembly as the member for Leederville in 1952. He served until his defeat in 1959.
