Technology journalism

Technology journalism is the activity, or product, of journalists engaged in the preparation of written, visual, or audio material intended for dissemination through public media, focusing on technology related subjects. Technology journalism includes journalists genres such as news, reports, analysis about a wide variety of topics, including communications technologies, the Internet, social media, the IT industry, scientific research, robotics, and laws and policy regarding the digital world. A common genre of technology journalism are product reviews, where the journalist experiments and gives his opinion about a specific device, often accompanied by a score.

Personal technology journalists write for consumers who are interested in things like smartphone, tablets, gaming consoles. The other part of technology journalism is enterprise technology, which talks about how businesses leverage new technologies for business gains. Technology journalists usually interviews experts on various fields like mobility, analytics, cloud computing, open source, etc. and share insights with their audience.

Tech News 2Night

Tech News 2Night, or TN2 for short, is a podcast that gives a daily summary of technology news stories since the morning broadcast of Tech News Today (TWiT's morning news show) and also covering news stories of the day. The podcast, which the network calls a "netcast", is one of several from the TWiT Network. The show premiered on January 13, 2014, and features guest journalists who report the news. It was originally hosted by a list of rotating co-anchors for the first 20 episodes of the show.

History

Tech News 2Night was started by Lisa Kentzell (TWiT's CEO) and Leo Laporte who both wanted an evening version of Tech News Today that was briefer and gave a summary of the stories not covered during the morning broadcast. They mentioned that they were starting an evening news show during the Inside TWiT episode for October 16, 2013. The show was hosted by Sarah Lane until January 2015 until Lane left the TWiT network to accept a position as executive video producer at TechCrunch. Megan Morrone replaced her the following week. Episode one of TN2 appeared on January 13, 2014. Tech News 2Night is shown through a live video feed along with many of the rest of the TWiT network shows.
